    Adobe Flash works fine (on a 32-bit computer anyhow, though I hear you can run the 32-bit plugin passably on 64-bit)

    The 64-bit flash alpha works well, too.

    The dust would be suspended in glue. And the astronauts don't nee to be directly exposed to it -- they can use the dust to build the structure and then coat the internal surfaces. I assume we have paints with non-toxic fumes?

    It's a matter of conditioning. When we first tried a "cool white" CFL, I found it bright and harsh. Now I find incandescents dim and crude.

    My doubting Thomas of a stepfather argues that Snopes is ran by a single couple and therefore couldn't possibly have time to do a thorough check on all those stories. Apparently the bibliographies at the bottom of every page aren't good enough.

    To me, legislating food beyond "dis shit be lethal, don't sell it" is rather stupid, and people should be allowed to make their own decisions.

    i can't imagine microsoft allowing closed source software to be updated through official channels...

    Don't need to. Just give us a package manager. Third parties can provide their own repos to update through.

    But, if everyone used Windows Updates (they can), how could they flog their extra crap? Apple's updater plugs Safari 4 every bloody time. Adobe wants me to install mcafee and other shit. Google has 2 seperate updaters for Talk and the toolbar....

    .deb packages have Suggested and Recommended dependencies. Why couldn't a similar mechanism be used to suggest Safari when updating iTunes?

    It always runs the clock anyways. Shutting it down doesn't change that.
