is that it can only scan child-porn manga.

  2. Slug time! on What NAS To Buy? · · Score: 1

If you need your solution to be cheap and customizable, you might think about picking up an NSLU2 and a few 1TB HDDs.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NSLU2 http://www.nslu2-linux.org/wiki/

It's basically a usb-to-ethernet bridge which you can flash with customized firmware or a trimmed-down debian install. Plenty of people use it as a lightweight server for FTP, NTP, DAAP, etc.

  4. Not Yet, In My Personal Experience. on Do Static Source Code Analysis Tools Really Work? · · Score: 4, Interesting

In my own corner of the world (.NET Compact Framework 2.0 on old, arcane hardware), they certainly don't. Each time I get optimistic and search for new or previously-missed static analysis tools, all roads end up leading to FxCop. Horrible signal-to-noise ratio, and a relatively small number of real detectable problems. That said, I'm always willing to submit myself to the genius of the slashdot masses. If you know of a great one, feel free to let me know. = )

  5. Third Amendment, anyone? on Air Force Aims for Control of 'Any and All' Computers · · Score: 5, Insightful

The third amendment to the US Constitution reads: "No Soldier shall, in time of peace be quartered in any house, without the consent of the Owner, nor in time of war, but in a manner to be prescribed by law." This idea is so important that the founders put it in before trial by jury or cruel and unusual punishment. Aside from the "because we said so" Bush regime's retorts, is there any way that involuntary botnet participation could be even slightly legal?
