If you where to open source a product and try to keep all the rights to it you would end up with all sorts of problems. People could steal unique ideas, and use them in their own product. I mean, what company would want to make a product, and then say to their compeditors "Okay folks, here's how we did it. Enjoy!" That probably wouldn't be the smartest strategy in the world.
You're a fucking moron. I would argue against what you said in that post, but it is so retarted that isn't worth any more keypresses then what is here. I pray to God that you are just trying to be a troll, and you're not really serious.
At some technological Universities such as Michigan Tech they have actually dropped C/C++ as a class, and have replaced it with java. If you want to learn C/C++ you have to take this small post Java class that basicly only teaches you the difference between the two languages. Personally I think it's stupid to replace C/C++ with a language that's less used in todays industry.
Yup! Damn straight, that's all slashdot it. An underground communist revolution.;-) Every 30 seconds a script written by the inner party Hemos, Taco flashes a picture of a penguin where the slashdot logo is that says "Big penguin is watching you under it." Infact Microsoft, Redhat, and Apple don't even really exist. They're all one entity that pretends to be at war to keep people loyal and under their control. By the way, This message never exsisted.
I personally think artist should support Napster. Artists get such a little portion of every CD they sell. They get ripped off more then the consumer does. Sure, we pay $20 for a damn CD, but they get even a small profit from that. Upcoming artists need to support the free music revolution. That would also make music more pure as people would have to be doing it for the love of music instead of the money or fame.
Hehe, yeah maybe I should. I get pretty lazy when it comes to things like that.;-) But remember from this point on that word was never actually spelled wrong.
The point of linux isn't necesarly to get away from GUIness Microsoft. The point is to really away from that unstable, expensive, Microsoft Bull shit. Hey I luv console, but if you use GUI it doesn't mean you're not a hacker. I personally think a hacker would rather use the best tool avaliable avaliable for the job instead of using the harder tool for the job just to say "my penis are bigger then your penis."
The whole point of linux is for you have the freedom to choose. Unlike Window if you want all console you are free to do so, but if you want to use a GUI you can go right ahead.
The onlything GNOME means for linux is another (in my opinion) powerful tool at your despence.
Internet phone can be a lot more trouble then it's worth. It took me days before I got mine working. Also once you do get it working there's still about a 1 - 1 1/2 second sound delay no matter what speed connection you have. At least that was my experiance since I tried it cable modem to cable modem.
I'm a 15 year old kid that runs linux. (and no im not a script kiddie or a cracker.) I started out in the 2nd grade on my Tandy color computer III. My brother taught me simple mathimatics\algebra, and in a week or so I was making simple basic programs on my own. In the fifth grade I learned C, and in the 6th-7th I learned C++ and HTML. I'm currently learning Perl and working on hacking up a frontend for the Rio500 in C. Pretty much what I'm saying is that your kids are old enough to learn how to code. You just need to make sure you move along at a nice speed so they won't loose interest. Also I recommend that you start them on Visual Basic. Then slowly indoduce them to the wonders of linux. From there you can make the transition over to C or C++. Those are my recommendations atleast. Good Luck!!:-)
Can we say TRACKING SCENE:-) Check it out at www.traxinspace.com if you're not familiar with it. BTW its kinda hard to open source someting that doesnt have any source to open;-)
Honestly I don't use Napster to rip off music. I use it to save on the time of riping my CDs. Napster should have a system in which it scans for the first parts data on the CD before it allows you to start a download so people aren't ripping off music. But even if people do rip off music the music industry as we know it is doomed. There is no way they will ever be able to control the pirating of MP3s. People will continue thinking of new ways to pirate it. And as soon as portable MP3 players become common enough people will stop buying CDs.
I have some plans this summer to kick off a project to make a cakewalk like music studio for linux. I'm not totally sure if I'm going to do so, but if I do you'll probably here about some releases around christmas next year... MAYBE If I do create it I plan to make so you can interlink both the powers of Midi, and the powers of modules into one format. But you will, of course, be able to use the midi sequensizer, and it's module tracker alone to make standered.mid, and.XM/.IT/.S3m/.Mod
Until then I recommend Jazz++ for a good midi sequensizer. It is very powerful, and there is both a free, and a pro version.
Exuse me while while I do a few things to raise my slashdot purity scores: 1) FIRST POST!!!!! -- +1 or 2 OOPS, looks like i missed it by by a few:-( -- +1 Ah well, FIRST POSTERS ARE LAME ASSES!! -- +2
2)JonKatz is a FAG!!! -- +1 or 2 I'm going to burn down his house +1
3)Now I'm going to use the VERY (hehe italics are +1) acurate slashdot poles to right a sientific paper, and solve world hunger with their valuable data. -- +4
5)Okay, next I'm going to make an atempt at creating a table in this post. -- +1 And trust me, I'll be VERY suprised when it doesnt work -- +1
6)Hmmm, what else can I do... well I guess I could run around my neighborhood naked yelling "Slashdot is a gift from Allah!" Thats not on the test, but it should give me at least +3 random effort points.
7)I guess that is it... wait if I just select yes to all the fields anyways, then I could also get +1 for the "did you cheat on this test" field!
DONE!after previewing this about 12 times and still leaving in a bunch of mistakes (+3) I think I should do okay next time I take the slashdot purity test.:-)
