  1. Re:Firefox on Hardware-Accelerated Ogg Theora For Firefox Mobile · · Score: 1

They got hw-accelerated Theora for an OMAP3 SoC. The testing was on a *single* mobile phone, there's a difference ;)

Anyway, the thing is that theora is as good as H264 or even better at low resolutions and bitrates, that's the reason why they are working on this for mobile phones/devices. Furthermore, having this for a SoC makes it much easier to port to other platforms and will probably work on future evolutions of the SoC as long as they keep the instructions set...

So, it's reasonable what they are doing ;)

    They get paid, that's right.

They are not being used!!! That's the first step for people to end using Microsoft products!

Have we not discussed that one of the main reason for the Microsft monopoly is that people don't know anything else?

"Legally speaking, Google is not at fault here. With the above disclaimer, they have successfully disclaimed all their responsibility of providing service and customer care."

That is simply nonsense. That is obviously an abusive clause and should be illegal on a contract/eula/whatever. What happens if HTC does not provide the support they should? Exactly what is happening now. People should complain to the company they bought the product from, they should not care what is behind: that is the seller's problem!

A little of consumer protection please...

PS:This does not happens in Spain, the responsibility is from the one that's selling the problem.

As I can see by the comments made here, I realize I'm not alone in thinking that the border control in the USA is outrageous and insulting. It happens that I recently visited the States (in fact, Chicago) and I was pretty close to not want to get into the country and flight back to Barcelona (Spain) just because of the way they were treating me and the way I was feeling: am I a thief, a terrorist?

I've been to the States three times, and every single one of them I've had to get to to Homeland Security and explain the reason of my trip. Once was because I was staying too long! I was visiting a friend and staying at her house for 7weeks which, apparently was not right :S

The last time, my mum had a lighter in the suitcase. They told us she couldn't keep it. Why? Because it was rechargeable... wtf?? Am I not allowed to get 100ml into bottles on the plain? Why not a lighter?

I don't even wanna talk about the fact that they have the *right* to break through your baggage even if that means they have to break it! ARGGG it happened this to me on this very trip! And I could not protest!

Well, I think I made my point...

It'll probably take a long time to me to get back to the states, there are plenty of places to get where I'll be treated properly ( note: I'm not talking about the american citiziens themselves, who happen to be very welcoming and friendly).

the market tends to a monopoly because end users don't want confusion

Oh boy, read again your post please. Let's talk about market: people know there is no car that can do everything and it is not strange that a Smart can't get to 150 mph. Or knives, or cellphones, or whichever market you can think of that has no monopoly. We humans are creaturers of habit therefore people would stay with Windows not because they do not want "confusion" but because it is what they *know*.

Smaller transistors means more efficient transistors. It's not just about size.

Actually, that's not exactly true. With nowadays tech, the smaller the transistor gets the more power it consumes statically due to current loses. In fact, the downfall is exponential. We are *very* close to the size limitis working at 32nm. There's been some research at 10nm and the power usage was 10-20 (or even more) times higher than 32nm tech.
