    I'm guessing roughly that we're dumping millions of years of CO2 into the atmosphere every year. Previous life forms were contributing their mass for conversion to petroleum for as long as the earth has been around (either 4,000 years or 4.5 billion depending on your level of insanity), and we are on the downward side of extraction. To run low on something, as quickly as we have done, that has been getting created for over 4.5 billion years, one has to be consuming it at a pretty good clip. I would do some math here but feel lazy.

    Maybe we can quibble over the amount but Trepidity's solution seems solid. How about the rate being something on the order of 30% above the prevailing market wage? See with 30% above prevailing market rate, the price keeps going up... Probably should add something to the effect of max hours allowed to work and salary must always remain 30% above prevailing market rate.

    The thing is that the currently extant nation in question came about as a result of forceful removal of the previously existing nations and people already occupying the land. Immigration by force isn't that much morally better than immigration by sneak is it?

    marijuana poisoning? Is there such a thing? Definitely not by smoking, you'd pass out before you could, so maybe from ingestion? Would it be similar to leaf poisoning from eating too many tree leaves?
    Seriously though, from what I know, you can OD on it if you eat it (properly prepared) due to the delay time from ingestion to onset of symptoms. What happens is people don't know that it is coming and so keep eating the brownies and end up eating way too many. I have not heard of this actually happening but theoretically it is possible.

    You're so right, states with the highest rates of gun ownership have 60% more suicides total and 4-10x the gun suicide rate. Interesting data, I was really not aware.

    Here is one that has higher scary numbers but they try to distance themselves from terming the incidents "home invasions". Had a hard time unwinding it (it's a long article and I'm feeling lazy) but one thing that stands out is that in 65% of cases, the offender was known to the victim.

    He's not really worried about a violent break in while he's home, I think those are vanishingly rare and probably a result of bad timing/casing. He's worried about his stuff disappearing while he's not home.
    Some of the professional cameras would make fantastic projectiles and even close quarters weapons, btw. ;-)

    TheGratefulNet, the suggestion from Actually... is a good one, I think you didn't notice what it was. He is putting the onus on _you_ to pick out the chunk that stands out for whatever notable characteristic is relevant. Pick that out for them and highlight it, discuss it, prove your ownership and why that makes you the badass they want to hire. I definitely don't want to wade through 13K lines of _your_ c/c++ code to find some damn pearl that I should ask you about. It is _your_ job to put that pearl in front of me.

    Seriously AC? Do you really think the Repubs feel any differently? Are they lining up to close our borders to products manufactured in countries with lax labor or environmental protections? Are the Repubs really battling against H1Bs? I thought all the people in power from all sides agreed that bringing in foreign labor was good for industry and so must be good for everyone.
