  1. Re:Great game, but they need to fix some problems on Getaway Sequel Pours On The Mockney Charm · · Score: 1

Unfortunately it only lets you do that in a few cut scenes. I an't count the number of times I was forced to sit through the cut scene of the Jamaicans being shoved into a paddy wagon.

I love how the turns signals, which are suppsoe to guide you, most often send you against traffic, making things harder...

  2. Great game, but they need to fix some problems on Getaway Sequel Pours On The Mockney Charm · · Score: 1

I finished the first half of the game, with MArk Hammond, and am trying to get through the second half. Some of the driving sequences are just rediculous. One mission, just the driving half I had to attempt more than 60 times before I got through it. Some sort of map within the game, if only at the start of a mission, to tell you where you are starting, and where you need to go.

The physics ont eh cars nee dto be adjust. They are way to prone to spinning out, fishtailing, etc. I did like that it gets harder to control when you get a flat tire, and even worse when a flat gets chew up so you are only driving on a rim.

Make it so you can jump out of a cut scene at any point. Having to see the same cut scene over and over gets real tiresome after a while.

The combat system and healing are out there. I'm cool with the autoaim, but I'd like to be able to reload all sorts of guns, not just pistols. Healing was a bit silly. Get shot up so you are dragging yourself around, and all you have to do is lean against a wall for a minute and you are ready to go. And most of the time while healing the bad guys don't even come looking for you.

The game has one of the best storylines and cut scenes to push that story. I'd love to see it made into a movie. Hopefully they keep up the same level of script.

  3. Some ideas on Building The Ideal Geek Gaming Center? · · Score: 1

After our favorite hangout (which was a lot like you described) closed a few years ago, I thought over a lot of things that I would do if I ever got to open a Internet Cafe.

    Lighting:

In the gaming area keep it fairly dark, at least right over the machines. Equip each cube with it's own adjustable swing arm lap. That way people can use it if they want, and put it where they want. I hate glare on my screen.

    Staff:

Hire a mix of male and females. Make sure none of them talk down to the customers. If you have a cute chick at the counter who makes fun of the geeks they do no good. On the flip site, let them know if a geek hits on them too much they are welcome to politely shoot them down. Keep an eye on your people. We had a guy who...got orally pleasured in the bathroom while on the clock. Kinda gives the place a bad reputation.

    Parking lot:

Make sure you don't have a lot of people hanging out in the parking lot. Here is CA you can't smoke inside, so set aside a specific smoking area, hopefully in back. If there are a bunchg of people jus thanging out in the parking it'll scare away some new customers. Some skinheads ended up causing trouble with a bunch of goths that like to hang out outside, and the owners brother ended up getting stabbed.

If you can justify it, stay open 24 hours on weekends. There are plenty of people who want a place to hang out in the middle of the night, especially after bars, dance clubs, etc, have closed. Doing all day tournaments, or over night games should help.

    Food:

Do a combination of made to order stuff (though having a store,e tc, can be a pain) and microwavable stuff from Costco or whatever. Have a crockpot with some soup in it. Munchies, too. You might even think of getting a cooler or fridge for sandwich makings.

Oh, make sur eyou have some sort of software on the machines that lets you monitor what people are doing, so hopefully you can catch any of your little hackers that will try to prove they are smarter that you and mess with your machines. Ghost images are also a very good thing.

  4. Web Interfaces on Separate Web Pages for Large Attachments? · · Score: 2, Insightful

When I was working for tech support for Earthlink I often sent people to our webmail system to show them how to solve the problems. Earthlinks servers got funky if you had any attachments over 1 meg. Since Earthlink has trouble keeping systems running reliably, I also had people go through www.mail2web.com, which always seems to work. It can turn any POP3 or IMAP4 Server into a webmail service.

Of course the higher ups didn't like us sending people to something outside our own system, so we got a memo saying to only use Earthlinks webmail, but when that was down we still sent people to Mail2Web

  5. Re:It's a dialup connection -- it's SLOW EITHER WA on Separate Web Pages for Large Attachments? · · Score: 1

Well, for one thing, if you are forced to download the attachmnet, you need to wait until it's done before getting to any mail stack up behind it. By using a web interface you can check your other messages, then go back to the one with the big attachment.
