I'm with DCTech I only like stuff I actually like and want updates from, if you're one of those idiots who just "like's" everything then I feel no pity for you.
"One of those idiots" probably isn't applicable to most of the/. populace... but would apply to the overwhelming majority of Facebook users.;)
TFA implies that there isn't any opt-out, other than unliking pages or nuking individual ads:
Since these ads are just stories, they cannot be stopped completely (although ad blockers may find a way around this). Users do, however, have three options provided by Facebook to limit the ads: click hide to remove individual stories, limit the volume of stories you see from a specific friend to only important posts, or unfriend the person and/or unlike the Page to stop seeing certain kinds of stories altogether.
This is going to piss off more than a few people...
What I find great about Mincraft is the the fact that it keeps things sweet and simple. No flashy graphics bringing your machine to its knees, no DRM to fuck the legitimate consumers over, no crap gameplay with a shitty ending. It's just you (and maybe some friends), the world, and your imagination.
Minecraft is definitely evidence that sometimes, less is more. My personal opinion is that game producers have lost the plot - too often, we get served a steaming pile of flashy crud (*cough* EA), and sometimes even non-flashy crud (Duke Nukem Forever, I'm looking at you here!). Perhaps these people need to sit down, take a look at what people are enjoying playing and why they enjoy it, and get back in touch with their market.
6dB is the point of no return; below this value you are going to have issues. That being said, 9dB isn't great.
I've found this forum post which explains far better than I ever will what values for SNR and line noise are good and which will cause you to hate BT like the plague.
Here in South Africa, 3GB at 384kbps is the norm - and it comes at a price:
- Analogue line rental: R112 - 384kbps ADSL applied to said analogue line: R152 - ISP offering 3GB of bandwidth: R239
That comes to R503 - at the current exchange rate of R7.70 to US$1, that's around $65 or so. Given that, I'd take the $54.90 for 15Mbps and 40GB mentioned in the original article any day.
The main problem in these parts is that we have a monopolistic telecoms provider (Telkom) that quite literally forces us to bend over (in prison terms). There is a second national operator gradually coming into play, but things are happening far too slowly for my liking.

Sending certain members of the female gender to Mars would be totally awesome. Can we start with Justin Bieber?

... is whether this outweighs the negative aspects of global warming or not.
I'd say it's too early to say for sure, but it would definitely be interesting to find out.
Don't worry, some countries have it worse.
