You are refering almost verbatum to Heinlein's novels: The Moon is a Harsh Mistress and The Cat Who Walks Through Walls.
The latter is about a geriatric couple living in a reduced G space environment while collecting pensions. While the former has much detail regarding traversing between 1G and 1/6 G environments.
Comes in two flavors: SPARC (Sun & Fujitsu) and X86 (most PCs). The PC version is only 32-bit currently.
I acquired build 71: it comes with Star Office 7 and Java Desktop.
Had an old 500 MHz with 500 MB RAM laying around, and it loaded very smoothly. The OS didn't recognize the Diamond Viper video card after installation as it did during the install (strange). But no worries, put an Nvidia card in (GeForce2) and it runs better (faster) than my Sun 1500 at work. Sun and Nvidia have teamed up to support each other, so good news all around. It comes with native Linux compatibility, but haven't tried it out yet.
I downloaded Apache and set up a quick and dirty guild site for Worlds of Warcraft with it. I have no complaints. Very polished. Just wish they would post some OS patches at sunsolve.sun.com.
T3, Rocky VI, Mad Max IV - where has creativity gone?
Baby Boomers (b. 1946-1964) run the world and Hollywood - and they just don't understand. Once in a while new ideas get past them, but it looks like we are in for re-hashed cold-war era "entertainment" until the boomers decide it is time to retire.
And they won't retire until they've made their fortune making as many sequels as they can mass produce for the next twenty years. There is no reason to not expect:
Jaws 5, Ghostbusters III, Beverly Hills Cop 3, Batman 4, Crocodile Dundee 4, Jaws 4, Grease 3, Rambo 4, Lethal Weapon 5, Look Who's (still) Talking, Honey I Shrunk the Great Grand Kids, Smokey and the Bandit: 45 in the fast lane with the turn signal on, The Middle-aged Karate Kid, Superman V, Never Die Hard, Airport 20XX........ I can't wait:/
Look for the top 100 movies and start appending numerals. Future Releases
