Talk about an episode which started out as potentially interesting, but quickly degenerated into politically-correct claptrap. I'm rather sorry to see that Chris Carter feels the need to present a Steinem-ish "men are inherently bad" episode.
I'm a little sorry that I didn't tune in to the Sopranos instead, as I usually do, but then I can catch that episode tonight.
What is it with Fox these days? After giving us all these very violent reality shows they now feel that they must browbeat us about how violence in any form is bad. Hypocritical little sh*ts. The sole good point of this move is that we won't be seeing any of these neo-fascist John Bunnell (sp?) shows anymore:-)
It's become a sad day when companies deal with either their own or others' incompetence by resorting to legal means. Corporations have large legal budgets, and the mere threat of a lawsuit is so expensive for individuals to counter that nowadays filing a suit is the equivalent of a gag order, whether the suit is warranted or not.
What is more, judges who are by and large ignorant of the issues at play make things worse by issuing warrants and injunctions which play right into corporations' hands, and ruling in ways which make their competence questionable at best (e.g. eToys).
It is becoming increasingly obvious that the limited amount of legal relief which so-called "tort reform" promised is far, far from being sufficient, and as such have not diminished the use of legal means as a weapon used by companies against individuals and other companies.
Hmm... gone the way of the Mac, let see... so Compaq is scheduled to sell more and more of the Alpha, and its stock price is due to hit all time highs in the next year and keep rising. I'll shy away from predicting a new form factor the Alpha CPU, but if Alpha is going the way of the Mac its future is a lot brighter than anyone had thought. Of course there's still the matter of Compaq being incapable of original thought, right down to the name of their new systems. Compaq is the worst thing to ever happen to Alpha, or Digital as a whole, for that matter. TAE
I haven't read Dvorak's article yet, but it's incomplete if he doesn't list himself in it. Sadly the once widely-respected columnist started to go after quantity, not quality, when he started writing a number of articles which were famous both for their lack of intelligent content and their propensity to blindly attack Mac users. Sometimes the columns seemed to come forth from a bigot, and not someone whose name once meant something in the industry. I can understand "whoring for eyeballs" from newcomers to the opinion game. When they are produced by people who should know better it just irritates the hell out of me. Then again, the best retort to the various inflammatory anti-Mac nonsense which Dvorak has poured forth is this: the iMac and the "girly" iBook are selling faster than Apple can make them. In your face Johnny! If you want to write a decent article, pro- or anti-Mac, put intelligent observations in it and you won't quite get so much negative press. TAE
