We have been living in a police state for at least seven years. Those of us that stop following "what Brittney is doing" for a few minutes and use that time to educate ourselves about what is going on in the world are not surprised at anything our governments do in the name of "protecting" us. Other than a few quotations of Benjamin Franklin's "...sacrifice liberty for security..." is anyone doing anything to stop this trampling of our rights as citizens? The saddest thing is the answer to that question is a muted and indifferent "no."
And then that pesky little thing called 9/11 happened before the first Bush budget. And of course, the budget deficits under the GOP and Bush were dropping from the Clinton recession and 9/11 fiasco; it was when the Democrats took over in 2006 and created the last two budgets that we saw the deficits spike.
Ha ha, Ha ha, Ha ha. I love it when people speak about topics they have no understanding of... it is so cute and funny!
The way patents work is even if all of us 6.7 million run to the patent office, because we all had the same idea, the first would still get it (or Edison if he were still alive).
"6.7 Million"???? Elitist! And who are these 6.7 million in this very selective group?
As someone who actually skipped a grade, I can agree there are no "negatives" whether socially or physically. I played sports, made lots of friends (voted friendliest in senior superlatives), and maintained good grades from 1-12th grade. I also found the access to more advanced material, such as taking the SAT in 6th grade, an advantage compared to my older peers.
Gentle answers is what 6 years in customer support teaches you.
That, or hating everyone;-)
That kind of attitude really pisses me off!;-)
I both agree and appreciate your answer houstonbofh. I worked in sales/design for a major computer company, and since we actually had a storefront, customers were constantly walking in for help. Learning to be simple, concise, and kind in your answers goes a long way. Plus, remaining calm reinforces the idea you are a "professional." Everyone wins; it does get very hard to do when you are answering a question for the 372nd time;)
Bush has violated more freedoms than any president before and you gun nuts have done absolutely nothing. I call your bluff!
This is the most historically ignorant thing I've read in awhile. Bush is way, way down on that list. Wilson goes at the top. Above Bush we'd find FDR, Jackson, Nixon, LBJ... and probably a few others I don't know about.
Or maybe this is the definition of irony.... Ever notice the ones calling others ignorant are usually just that?
I fully agree, so let me correct my "we the people" by narrowing it down to "we the people, with an education, an understanding(however basic) of the science behind the principles, and an ability to understand the science(a decent IQ)." I would point out that while we agree on 99% of this, I don't think one needs to be fully invested to realize that something major is going on here. There are so many problems, in every ecosystem, in every part of the world, that I think we can agree on the existence of a big problem. We can argue, or discuss the causation, however ignoring the problem is not an acceptable answer here. I for one have not read the IPCC report, only summaries, and I have not spent months and months devoted to studying the climate data. I do believe, however, I am educated enough on the matter to see a problem exists, and I believe we(mankind) are causing said problem; or at the very least, worsening it.
Also, while I am a proponent of using one's own judgment, not proposing I know more or better than said experts, and would readily defer to those experts on the matter. I think, or would hope, my judgment would allow me to filter out those viewpoints that are not merited on data, and therefore flawed. And that is the crux of my first post: rational people should be able to evaluate the information experts provide and draw their own conclusions. We should be able to determine between those who(whom?) are working to solve/understand the problem in a scientific way, rather than those spouting nonsense based on emotion, religion, or oil company money!
I think we are missing the point by relying on experts to walk us all the way through the discussion. Experts("they are scientists") collect and assemble the research; but it boils down to what a rational person would understand the data to conclude. From all the evidence I have seen, climate change is very real, and very dangerous to our climate. It also seems to me that any rational person, studying all of the evidence, would reach a similar conclusion. Are we really at such a low point that "we the people" cannot come to our own conclusions after covering the available research? We all lose when it comes down to experts shouting at each other on a split screen, as many "news" shows consist of today. I realize making my own decisions may not be popular these days, but weren't we taught the scientific method and how to draw our own conclusions? And I do agree those that argue for creationism and against climate change by bypassing science and only using emotion or religion are not helping anyone.
I don't know about your social/professional situation, but I am the "sales guy" for my circle of friends. I was CIS in school but after leaving, when my other friends were working their way up through different IT departments, I found the express lane in designing system layouts and applying said systems to companies in need, ie "consulting and sales." So to make this SAS, bring someone into your plan other than just you coders. You probably know someone that can develop an outlet for your product while you are developing said product.
Sprint also offers account spending limits except for A1 credit customers (few and far between). As a store manager, I dealt with many customers that had children(usually) downloading or texting their way to bills of several hundred extra dollars. In most cases, the customers were saved by their account spending limits.
And as far as people deserving the bills they receive because of some fine print... this is why we limit the amount of interest that can be charged on loans. Just because you can talk some one into signing a contract doesn't make it legal...
I don't understand. You can type and seem to be an intelligent being, but a vote for McCain? Oh no wait, it is in your sig, so it is a joke, right? Probably the funniest thing I have seen today, considering McCain is as libertarian as he is a "true conservative" - you remember those: small government, balanced budget, upholding the constitution...
Dear brethren American commodore64 love,
See my first post above.

Hoover and the Red scare?
What we did to the Japanese under Roosevelt after Perl Harbor?
Hell, what we did to the Germans during the first WW
This isn't the first time we (Americans) looked and saw the enemy in every corner and it won't be the last.
People that say Bush is the worst we ever had have no sense of history
I believe this post is the definition of irony...

I do live here. Brilliant minds at work here, let me tell you.
