  1. Re:lets just boycott metallica and use opennap on Napster Bans Metallica Fans · · Score: 1
Uhm, is it me or is that Yahoo URL "The club may have been deleted or no club with that name exists."?

This Yahoo Filtering stuff? If so, that's quite a dissappointment..

    Checkout:
Ice T's Coroner Records site for details on a more favorable way to "Buy" music.. Not ripping off the artist, and also seeing them get the cash..

I believe he is looking for artists to have, so to speak too.. Check out the links from there for a lot more, including interviews of Him, and Chuck D.

IMHO, this is a Real, Internet Friendly, way to get music.

From the Atomic Pop site, I ordered his recent "7th Deadly Sin" CD, for $11.89, and when it came (3 days later), included another EP of a band called Flashpoint. You can also buy MP3s from the site.

"There's nothing left to do but to go to war. Slide the hollow tips in the Crome 44. Roll down the windows and ya heat out tha door. Catch all the bodies I can tonight....."
Our typing (re: Ban Metallica) is the hollow tip in the 44. The windows are our webbrowsers.. Bodies are Metallica Record, Gear, and ticket sales.

It's not like I was never a Metallica fan. I used to grab the first CD/tape that hit the stores on a new album. And ticketron had me in line for front row or close..
    I
    • Consider Ride the lightning an all time great album
    • Felt it when Cliff Burton died.
    • Remember when Metallica wanted to call an album "Metal up your Ass". And while I didn't consider it a sellout, kinda wish they hadn't compromised for the record companies. (Kill 'em all)
    • Grew tired of lame, stupid, albums that are obviously sellouts to the almighty dollar. (ever since And Justice for All)
    • Wished Metallica opening for Ozzy was Ozzy opening for Metallica.

At this point, I don't intend to buy another Metallica Album again, unless it's used (since I don't think they make anything more on them. Please correct me if I'm wrong)
  2. Re:How do we get the news on our side? on DVD CCA Emergency Hearing to seal DeCSS · · Score: 1

Give them all news.. That draws focus to your side.. Needs no flaming, and definately a professional approach.. Maybe even like a community representative would be helpful.. Some point where they have a contact when needed.

For example Announcement of a boycott on DVD for a certain period. That might draw their focus.. Not all would take it, though enough might to get the ball rolling where they start looking to people for more.

In other words, give them news they can exploit!

It's about time for the community to stand up..

This could mean that we need to use Specific Operating Systems to use DVDs. Such as Microsoft Windows, or others with few choices..

I don't think we could all agree to not buy DVDs altogether, However, we could possibly do this for a certain period, and use that as a scaling to see if it could be done, and maybe for longer on other occasions..

Say, set a week, in the near future, and get the word out.. Asking, that for the better of all, that no-one buy/rent DVDs, DVD players, and related items. Could this work?

I think so. I'm sure everyone wouldn't, though if enough to cost their industry some money (in lost revenew), I'm sure they'd at least look.. Might even put them a bit in check, via the medium that helps feed their greed. That's what this is all about..

It's about time we speak up for ourselves. It's obvious that the people we elected for this purpose won't.

Personally, I am currently building a couple of decent systems, and neither will have DVD considering the industry behind it could care less about me, and my ability to use this technology. Even though I feed them Fsck'ers along with many others.

    Yah,

This is a good example of what "justice" really is.

And this is just one case, though high profile.

Other areas, where there are probably people in jail, in your own county even, that is just is bad, is the handling of Child Support in this country. If you get laid off, and can't find work quick, well, you'll lose your drivers license. When you get back to work, they'll take large %s of your pay til it's caught up, and still threaton you with jail.. If you don't get caught up, well, welcome to bubba.

The constitution is violated in many areas of law now. Ramsie Electronics was another example.

And it's not just the MONEY.. A lot of this comes from special interests. The support laws are based on propaganda from a "Womans" organization that has long since been proven wrong.

And Ramsy, where they just happened to be a victim of political getbacks.. Yet Radio Shack hasn't been raided yet..

Hehe, got one coming here too, on an old System V unix machine, hehe, though I haven't been able to get at the physical machine yet.

It's an old Alto Systems e386/1000, and I suspect the problem is with Microsoft FoxBase rather than the OS itself.

The problem is that the clients date reverted to January 1, 1970, hehe. Is 29.5 bits possible on a date? Hehe.. I don't think so.

    Hehe,

Try a little garbage picking. You could build a clean CW transmitter for much less. Solder, Board supplies, a calculator, some wire, and a soldering iron.

They did away with circuits? Darned, now I know I have been inactive for way to long, hehe.

Well, considering that Amateur Radio is public service, and serves to provide considerable help during emergencies and things (at least here in the US in some parts), Morse code can fit nicely in this picture.. Continuous wave is the most efficient, and the easiest to implement. In the situation where you might need to build a transmitter/receiver, the knowledge needed is much less. At the sametime, the recieving end needs are much less too, and an intermittent carrier will punch thru where a lot of other things get ate up by static. And many more communications via CW can be carried out in the same bandwidth. Happy New Year!
