An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

Shouldn't that be a pence of prevention is worth a pound of cure?

Switch the entire damn postal service over to start with.

This is one area I've often thought would be the optimum use of hybrid electrics. Mail trucks cover dozens (hundreds?) of miles per day, most of it in increments of under 200 ft. All that start and stop has to result in horrible fuel economy. I don't know that a pure electric would have the necessary range, but a hybrid with regenerative braking might actually be economically viable.

  3. Eminent Domain? on Still Little To Do About a Bad ISP · · Score: 1

It seems like if a community wanted to generate competion for internet, phone, and TV service, there should be a creative way to apply eminent domain laws. The community would take the property (cable/phone line), pay the cable/phone company a "fair" price, and then allow any service provider to use the lines. The hard part would probably be determining the fair price and coming up with the money to pay for it.

  5. Bing buying market share? on Bing Gaining Market Share Faster · · Score: 1

The hotel I'm staying at is using WiFi that is sponsored by Bing. When I first connect to the network, I get a Bing search page telling me to begin a search or wait 30 seconds to connect. I wouldn't be surprised if many people just type in a term to get connected, generating lots of unneeded searches.
