i have used my hacked up wrt54G, version 2.1 motherboard, for years. in fact every time i do replace it i am disappointed by the fact that a new router is worse.
my franken wrt54G was made from the parts of 3 others (motherboard, new antennas and new powersupply). it has lasted me the last few years. i have been using the DD-WRT and have good results. the only problem i have is i have to test my xbox connection for it to work. i only reboot on power loss and update of firmware.
