    From wikipedia

Fascism, pronounced /fæzm/, is a political ideology that seeks to combine radical and authoritarian nationalism with a corporatist economic system, and which is usually considered to be on the far right of the traditional left-right political spectrum.

To speak: This ruling allows corporations unlimited spending, which tends toward corparatism. The fact that the Executive Branch's power has grown after 9/11, and has not retracted under Obama, along with the "you are with us or against us" patriotic thuggery from the far right, has the US tending toward (though not there yet, thankfully) authoritarian nationalism. Finally, the conservative judges made this possible, along with the far right being the harbinger of the nationalism, and we are well on our way.

Wikipedia is one of the worse sources for any historical information you can get. There is no left/right argument with fascism (within the contex of US politics). In practice, collectivism has more in common with fascism by design structure. Merriam-Webster definition: fascism 1 often capitalized : a political philosophy, movement, or regime (as that of the Fascisti) that exalts nation and often race above the individual and that stands for a centralized autocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader, severe economic and social regimentation, and forcible suppression of opposition.

So long as people have a right to say what they want to, I see no problem at all with government agencies stepping in and actively promoting their version of the truth as well, or ensuring that other versions get their fair share. It is incumbent upon us to sift through it all, that's the burden of freedom.

The government does not have an opinion, it is not a person. Since you like Caesar > "If you must break the law, do it to seize power: in all other cases observe it." -Julius Caesar

Why is our tax money being used for this?

It isn't. The article is about an academic paper written by the appointee, prior to being appointed. It's not an actual policy or proposal.

'Prior to being appointed'? So the man now with the power DOESN'T believe this?

I don't think Global Warming (as it was sold to us, no bait and switch Climate Change) is poor science at best. Too much money and politics are involved; when Al Gore and Goldman Sachs agree on something you know it's very very bad. GOOD SCIENCE is all I ask for, which mean never hear the words ''the debate is over''. This didn't happen in the states. This happened in Quebec Canada which already has government ran heath care system. . This was sick-leave insurance which is paid for by her employer IBM. The woman is saying (and her doctor agrees) that she cannot work because of "major depression". Now, I'm not a fan of any insurance company, but I'm even less of a fan of someone who DOES NOT WANT TO WORK. I mean shouldn't the goal of her recovery be to have her be able to become self reliant again? If this woman can jump on a plane and sit on a beach then she can jump in a cab and sit at her desk. . For the harshness now: If after a YEAR AND A HALF of "nights out at her local bar with friends and short getaways to sun destinations" [rtfa] on IBMs dime doesn't cure you then you should probably kill yourself, because nothing makes you happy and your a waste of space.

I worked for Verizon Fios and when anyone switched from one type of service such as dial up to DSL or even DSL to Fios the email was always transferred incorrectly by sales. Someone probably screwed up then decided it was just easier to say 'you can't have that email anyways' than try and fix it. Normally those in management at Verizon don't know anything about technology or computers and know far less how to 'get things done' at Verizon.
