I don't see what's wrong with making a movie for the fans of Futurama as the article says, we're the ones that are going to be buying it anyway. He's implying that in order for the dvd to be a success, it has to increase it's audience size. Phooey I say! er, whaa?
Anyway, I hope more great canceled shows make "movies" that go right to dvd. I for one welcome our Firefly overlords.
Seeing as how the data comes from within a censored and controlled system, let alone the possibility that the poll was taken under a certain amount of duress (i.e. take this poll, but we know who you are, and will monitor what you select) how accurate can this poll be?
I swim 2000 yards 3 times a week, and run 2 miles the other 4 (yay me). If cooling the muscles were trully the secret to endurance I'd be able to continue happily for miles while swimming, seeing as how severe shrinkage occurs during said workout. From my experience it's entirely about the oxygen efficiency, or even capacity of the muscles. This being readily apparent to me from just the beginning of a workout session compared to the end, running or swimming.
Starting any workout, my muscles are cooled down and relaxed all the way, with blood vessels constricted to a resting state, for whatever reason this makes it hard to go very far without taking a break. Eventualy after warming up I'm limber to the point that while I'm breathing the same amount, I'm able to go farther between resting periods.
Maybe it's endorphines, but from what I've observed, the temperature of the individual muscles is almost arbitrary compared to the efficiency of the muscles to convert oxygen, etc. into energy. Of course, I'm running on the idea that training your muscles, i.e. regular workouts, and generaly maintaining your carcass makes the body run at higher efficiencies, and therefore requires less oxygen for peak performance.
Oh and btw, I smoke the occasional stogie, and the workout after a night out is always rougher than normal, which I equate to what I was babbling about above.
Love the Ubuntu, dual booting it on my HP laptop. Compiles proggy's hella fast, and Blender render's like a beast with ubuntu's native 64bit drivers. Problem of course is that I just can't get the Broadcom 4318 wifi card to work. Every driver fix i've found on the intarweb failed. Which is highly annoying because I have to plug in to do any updates or anything, or for that matter switch over to windows xp in a wifi environment. I do hope they fix this little issue (and yes I know it's a proprietary driver mess) in Fiesty Fox.
Everybody keeps considering these new break throughs to be great for their massive desktop psuedo-supercomputers, I'm wondering why researchers don't develop head mounted displays to a greater extent. I mean seriously, who among us would not awnt to have a wireless unit that pretty much look and feel like sunglasses, but are wirelessly attached to your server at home, and takes input ala Star Trek... But seriously, the products available now, are just too bulky, and hard to deal with, not to mention expensive... anyway... here's a couple sites that sell head units if anyone really wants to see what I mean Seattle Site Systems Kaiser Electro-Optics CGSD -VR As you can see, a person would have to be seriously disturbed to wear them in their office, let alone the public! would anybody other than myself prefer to have an eyepiece rather than a monitor?
If what you're looking for is just readable books that bring forth a new perspective on maths, then I personally recommend Nassim Nicholas Taleb's Black Swan: The Impact of the Highly Improbable http://www.amazon.com/Black-Swan-Impact-Highly-Improbable/dp/1400063515/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1234133817&sr=8-1 This book is a highly engaging, readable introduction to thinking about the limitations of statistical probabilities. Also, if anyone has not read Zero: The Biography of a Dangerous Idea by Charles Seife http://www.amazon.com/Zero-Biography-Dangerous-Charles-Seife/dp/0140296476/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1234134095&sr=1-1 you are depriving yourself of the fascinating history of a shockingly revolutionary idea.
All Glory To Steve Jobs... I mean, The Hypnotoad.

Making soldiers more solid daily, thanks science!
