Not that I'm happy about it, but I think we're a long way from a post-microsoft world. Even if Judge Jackson passes down the harshest ruling possible, Microsft still has it's software running on a huge percentage of the world's computers. They may have to take a step back in their development, but they'll find ways around any injunctions, just as the baby bells have.
With game developminet costs pushing 5 million dollars, and no ceiling in sight--I think people are naive to believe PS2 will develop as large a game library as the original.
Sure, there will be a lot of games out there, but 85% will be total crap.

Why is apple doing this. I think it's great. In fact, I think it's groundbreaking for a company who has 7? to 12? percent of the OS share in the world to open it's foundation, but why?
My guesses are:
1. It's great pr in the geek world. 2. It could lead to a broader programmer base for apple drivers, os enhancements, etc. 3. It will bring back some of Steve Job's Hair.

I know people will pay millions to go into space, but not on something they perceive to be totally unsafe.
Then again people will pay tens of thousands to climb everest.

Too bad I wasn't doing it on computers then. It would be much more profitable.

I am in awe of apple's hardware/software integration. I don't know of any company who does it better. Not even PALM.

The cable companies are waging a propaganda war over this on the radio in DC.
