    it makes aol's search results very unreliable.

    I noticed recently in my site's logs that we get hits from people searching "child porn" on our site. I checked out AOL and found we're listed first when you perform that search. We don't have anything to do with it. What's up?

    The level of anynomity is scary. When you call 911, they know your location. With this, you can turn in anyone's name and walk away without ever being contacted again.

    Sure, they're just offering a service to take complaints. They may argue that a person could call 911 and do the same amount of damage.

    But having this on the web has other connotations. It's going to be abused. It's a perfect tool for exacting revenge on someone you dislike.

    All you'd need is a drug that would act as an appetite suppressant.

    It scares me becasue soldiers are taught to be something other than human during wartime, and the military encourages them to shed any emotion and replace it with dicipline.

    If you take away the fundamental psychological and social funciton of eating, you've got troops who are even less human.

    I don't like it.

    Hey, I'm all for it. I'm not saying people abuse anonymity either. I'm just saying it is one of the most debated, most troublesome (to the legal system) issues in the books. My question is: Whether it is abused or not, would the freenet people feel liable for granting that anonymity. tcd004

    I'm all for an open forum for free speech, but this seems almost reckless. In most venues of speech, accountability for someone's words is fundamental. The internet has opened up the possiblity of free speech without accountability to a small degree, and look at what has happened. Do you fear any legal reprocussions to your group for creating this forum based on this fact?
