  1. Screw comments on What is Well-Commented Code? · · Score: 1

Screw comments.. if they can't understand my code, they don't deserve to edit it.. It goes both ways.. Hail the spaghetti coders!

  2. Finally on Linux Media Arts Advances Video in Linux · · Score: 1

I took my uncle (big audio and video guy) to last year's linuxworld and he was severely disappointed that he couldn't find anyone coming up with any decent solutions for linux-based video.. he even got a few laughs on the subject. He felt that the system would be perfect to adapt for that type of system, and I'm glad that I can forward him this link to show him that some progress is being made and that he might be able to get a system to play with some time soon..

  3. There used to be one in Santa Cruz, CA on Apartments for Techies? · · Score: 1

My corporate contact from Nokia lives in an apartment complex that used to be wired with a full T1 here in Santa Cruz, CA. They disconnected it a few months ago, however..

  4. Water cool on Building Quieter Computers · · Score: 1

I built my grandfather a completely silent system because he has a bad ear and fan noise makes it act up. The CPU and power supply are both water cooled .. I'm using a standard water wetter/distilled water combo for the water coolant, but the power supply has fluorinert running through it - you could also use mineral oil or opticool. The cpu and p/s are on seperate lines, both with eheim pumps on them, and they run outdoors to 2 radiators with fans on them, made from car heater cores - you cant hear them indoors. The hard drives are SCSI and are sitting in a closet surrounded by a little bootleg soundproofer I made out of some soundproofing eggcrates and a wood box. The setup is completely quiet and works perfectly - in fact, it cools very efficiently as I have his axia 1ghz tbird running at 1550mhz =P.

  5. PCMods products are low-grade on The Ultimate PC Case - Continued · · Score: 1

I've been on the modding scene for a while now and I can guarentee you that PCMods products are very low-grade. You're much better off purchasing your mod stuff from Cole at CaseETC.

  6. Dare is a crock on Has D.A.R.E Been Effective? · · Score: 1

From what i've seen, the students who were most eager to participate in dare turned out to be the ones who were the biggest druggies - dare is a complete crock and a waste of money.

  7. This patch completely screws up the Q3 physics on New Q3A Patch And Mods · · Score: 1

This mod is horrible - it screws up the game's physics. One of the features of the mod is to convert all of the QVM stuff over to the speed dlls (which gives you a slight boost in fps), but it makes strategies like strafe jumping useless - for this reason, none of the pro players are switching their Q3s over..

  8. Overclocking on Ideas for High School Computer Projects? · · Score: 1

Overclocking can turn out to be an excellent science project if you include the usage of high-tech cooling through use of TECs (a.k.a. Peltiers) and experiment with submersion in fluids like Opticool and Flourinert to increase cooling and insulate, etc.

  9. Think about the upcoming mb's and overclocking on AMD Shows Off 1.1 GHz Athlon · · Score: 1

Athlon 2, 4, and even 8 processor motherboards are coming soon! imagine - 8.8ghz! No stopping amd now! And if this baby runs this fast without any cooling, think how well it could be overclocked with one of those kryotech freon systems - probably 1.5!!

I'm not sure about what's going on internationally, but I do know that Linus Torvalds has the name "Linux" registered with the US trademark office.
