Why wouldn't he release it on dvd? Some say so he can release it with episode 2? Even so, he could still make more by releasing it on its own and then releasing it with 2 as part of the triliogy. I mean it worked with star trek. Even though they new they had new movies coming out every 2 years or so they still re-released each new movie as an addition to the box set and on it's own. It can't be bad since star trek nets paramount about $1 billion a year. Maybe he's scared those new cd's are gonna take over sooner than we though.
