IMO, if they wanted a humane linux, they should have gone with Human Linux, or (I checked, the name belongs to a now-defunct project) Lunix. Maybe Antropo, I dunno.
I have a little theory that it goes right down to dopamine and serotonin. I'm not the only computer geek in class, but the only one with some emotional sensitivity, i.e. the ability to feel lonely and hurt. The rest seem immune, unlike poor me. Then again, I'm the only one with ADHD, and peaces of obsessive-compulsive disorder. And I'm pretty sure my drug-seeking behavior is unique to myself. OTOH, I'm a always a cynic, if not a bitter one, but with a smart-ass 'eh, I'll deal with it' approach. So, as I was saying, maybe I have low enough dopamine not to be a generic alpha-male, but relatively low serotonin is keeping me from being transsexual or some such. And some wicked depressions. You realize that you have to rewrite GUI code thrice, right? Windows, Quartz, X11. And don't give me that XDarwin shit. Because it's exactly that. Its crippled because Apple doesn't want cross-platform code, it wants "Mac only". A crippled X11 helps that. Sans the Quartz availability, FreeBSD with WINE atop for compat. testing has the same functionality, only cheaper. BTW, for a "just works" experience you specificaly seek out an Apple branded machine, right? Try something high on the [F][PC]-BSD or Ubuntu or Mandriva compat. lists. Same experience, cheaper hardware. Try it some time.
