To be precise - they do borrow heavily. That does in no way make them necessarily only nearly as rich.
Only by looking at a Van Gogh painting, recognizing a tree and then painting a similarily looking tree in my painting doesn't make my painting comparable to a Van Gogh.
What they of course do is copy the power of an orchestra and the multitude of simultaneous sounds - but that's just overpowering our brain, not richness and depth.
