Reminds me of stories of wagon builders long ago... Teams of 3 getting the job done, 2 of them actually hammering away while the third sat down, often reading the newspaper aloud. Keeps the other guys informed, distracted from the drudgery, and generally happy among their peers. The sit-down guy would be switched during breaks.

There's at least one sketch or photo of this in US history textbooks out there, though I don't know what it's called.

I've been using Yahoo's for only a few days now, and the $7/month covers me listening to a whole lot of CDs I've always wanted to listen to. Most of them I wouldn't have taken a chance on purchasing, and definitely wouldn't now that I have listened to them. Still, that's a lot of access to a lot of music even if I don't get to keep it.

Dude. Seriously.... I was only arguing that it's not the bread or wine that is special, nor even the preist, but the presence of Jesus Christ. I never once said that the bread and wine are not transformed in the process, because I never even got close to describing the sacrament.

I certainly never expected anyone to even read it that way... I live in Texas, and hear quite regularly from protestants that communion is a symbolic act, or at the very least, something far short of how Catholics regard it. I don't get 10 seconds into explaining why they can't take communion in the Catholic church before they change subject and ask if I've accepted Jesus as my personal savior.

Indeed... I intentionally didn't go that deep into the thing, but if it was only spiritual, there'd be no need to even consume the host. The preist could just bless the congregation and be done with it (ignoring "do this in memory of me" for the sake of argument)....

I don't care too much fretting over glutin and physical accident arguments. Reason being that sight, sound, smell, taste, and touch are merely impulses fed to our brain by the body, and those senses are already quite limited to begin with. Why rely on them to tell me what's going on with a consecrated host?

Catholics see the body and bread as a physical vessel of the spiritual body and blood of Jesus Christ. After all, before it's blessed, it's just bread, and after it's digested, it's goes down the toilet. It simply doesn't matter much what it's made of physically, in the same way it doesn't matter at all what people are made of physically... we all turn back to dust in the end.

If there's one thing that's a reported definite in Sun, it is that they've decided on GNOME for their desktop environment on Solaris sometime in the near future.... I think JDS was a nice experiment at rebranding of both Suse and GNOME software, but never really a serious product with R&D devoted to improving software upstream from it. To make matters more complex, Suse joining the Novell fold has made a mess of the Suse and Ximian desktop offerings. Novell up top seems to be aiming for a losely defined linux services platform in the mold of IBM, not a strongly defined Linux desktop and distribution product. No reason they should go for the later either, since that market is decently covered by other products from other companies.

So, Sun had JDS which is derived from a distrtibution (Suse) that is not nice to GNOME (wtg, germans), and are giving up on it. No biggie, IMHO.
