Sorry, you failed -- you just aren't worthy. Proving that you really are as inexperienced and ignorant. And it is both 'singly' or 'singularly' -- just depends upon how you want to type. Go do a google search.
Thank you for you going out of your way to prove what I was saying, I appreciate it. Wonderful end to a thread, to fail a test like that? Don't beat yourself up too bad.
Right. Like you know who I am. I guess this is the kind of hypocrisy promoted in the colleges for kids like you. Some of
us receive better education that tells us the weakest link in network security is human interaction, and that CSS was
poorly designed from a cryptographic point of view.
Wrong, it was broken because an untrusted party decided to break it's dodgy implementation. If all parties were trusted, there would be no problem. Think outside the box, I know it's a strain but please try -- it's ok, you are young and don't have much life experience but at least make more of an effort.
As for who you are:
You are a little 19 year old kid, who has a big attitude that is from Ohio. I could care less really about you. And, they really are failing on the deductive reasoning in your curriculum apparently.
The main reason why Q3A/Half-Life hasn't been cracked is probably because no one who could do it gives a shit because we can afford it. The reason why people cracked CSS is more because of a political reason (it wont work on Linux, we want it on Linux) than a "I'm a poor bastard who has to pirate" reason. Good enough answer for your dumb ass or you want me to connect the dots even further?
As for a reply, I'll give you one. If you get it right, maybe I'll even think. When I interview little pissant kids like you straight out of college this is what I ask them. If they get it right I continue the interview.
You have a singly linked list of 500 integers. Print them backwards.
Good luck, and if you want to know a little more about my qualifications. If you've worked on a project like this, then you have a right to sling mud with me -- until then, try working a little harder in your life.
From what I heard, they tried to crack CSS after it was out, not after lamekid gaming magazine said there would be encryption involved.
Yes, and I'm sure Johan said, "This can be cracked" long before it was released. One of the first things they should have taught you is no system that has an untrusted party is ever truly secure. You must be a biology major or something?
As for school, I did go to a university -- I was talking about you specifically. I don't have a rebellish opinion about standard education. It works, for standard folk. You really have no idea who I am what so ever, or what I do, and it makes it that much more fun when you talk shit about me.
Good thing you don't matter - otherwise I'd care about your opinion of me.
Oh whoopdee doo. Are you trying to impress me? Try again. I know plenty of people with a more impressive skillset than "writing network code."
I don't try to impress people. It's bullshit, just like you. I do what I do, I say what I mean.
I know what I can do, and I do it. It's not my fault you envy my abilities and think you have to talk bad about me to make me feel better. A good quote about this, "Everything we hate in others, we hate in ourselves." -- So if you think I'm bullshitting, that means you obviously do it too. Which seems reasonable after looking at your posts.
Hey idiot, all you have read is a dailyradar article. Don't assume that just because you can write "network code," you can hack
your way around a product that you don't even know about.
Yes, I'm sure you said the same thing when people said it's possible to crack CSS. Stop talking, and doing - you obviously don't know the first thing about.. well.. anything.
As for my nickname, it's mostly derived from my Gaelic roots -- you definitely aren't a scholar of any sort other wise you'd know that.
If coming from a.edu would mean I have common sense, it's obvious you didn't come from one.
No, coming from an.edu means you are another sheep in the herd. What's it like to not be able to think freely?
Hmm - you really are an idiot, not sure why I'm responding. Taking a break from my code.
I'm an individual, not a corp.
If big bucks denotes living in a luxory apartment while driving a 2001 mercedes then I am making big bucks. Otherwise, not sure what your definition is.
That is just when it gets fun. The authentication packets can obviously be detected (by the console and server) so you just run a replace filter on the router that detects these packets and replaces the information. Good kernel hacking going on there. It'd be a fun project to work on, if I had more time I would definitely jump on board if this came to reality.
hehe - I should have clarified this. The guy was 22 and owned an Acura Integra that barely had a back seat after the mods he did to it. He would have someone drive him around so he could play the N64 through the Sony goggles - really cool setup but still ridiculous.
Sorry good sir, but you are quite frankly an idiot. First off, I write network code. I know how easy it is to do this type of stuff. And yes, I have in fact done similar things in the past to get around some of the silly authentication.
First off, you think I really give a fuck about my karma? Did you look at my user id? My karma bounces between 40-50 and I really could care less.
why don't you learn who you are addressing before calling me an "ego-bloated/. user". You come from an.edu -- lets hope they can teach you some common sense.
And yes, they are stupid folk. Most the population is stupid folk -- you just proved that as your response puts you in that class.
All you have to do is hack together a box that has the code to play it on there. If it's done over ethernet then connect it to the network and find a way to translate all queried IP's or hosts to that one box.
If over a dialup, a bit more difficult but you can hack a modem and a BBS system. If this actually happens, lets hope they do ethernet because it would make it tons easier to bypass.
The obvious question, is why do stupid online stuff. What about people who don't have a phone line connected to their house or place where they are watching a movie? And those portable DVD players? I know this guy who has an N64 in his car, what's he supposed to do when he wires his PS2 in there? (Granted, it's stupid to have a console in a car, there is a certain cool factor in doing it)
Soon as I find a toy I like, I go get it and something better comes out. I remember growing up and getting dicked on toys, now they have all these fancy toys that change and mutate.
Aria, the credit card company, does something that is really quite nice in response to this. It uses Ad based point systems. They send me an advert and I look at it, if it's something that I like then I will visit the site and earn some points. If I buy it, I get even more points.
The points, just go into little perks from using their credit card and such. Similar to the mileage plus perks. I usually click on ads, it works, and it's quite non-intrusive. They send light weight emails out, with a brief description of the product and how many points you receive.
I'm not sure if I fully understand what you are trying to get at, but I think you are talking about mold and bacterial colonies.
If so.. no, this doesn't expand to other locations in space. The first reason, there isn't bacteria there. Bacteria is life, and bacteria is what causes mold and fungi to form on coffee. If that isn't there, then there is no mold. And, as far as I know, this piece is missing.
I could just be missing your argument completely though.
No, you really couldn't. That would be a shell script that runs gcc.
Instead of a shell script that converts C code to machine language. Yes, it would require other atomic pieces (sed/awk) but the shell script would do the conversion.
Lil late, I used to work in the neurolab in 1998 and spent some time on the software for the BioMuse which was the first generation of the hardware behind this stuff. They have much more advanced technology out, but biocontrol is a good starting point. I haven't been out to the lab since I left so I'm not sure at all what they are using now.
At 16, supervised tech support and did a part time programming job. Was told, "Shuttup and go play with your GI Joes" by one of my techs when I reprimanded him.
At 17, I worked for NASA. Had to put up with it there but it was the best place for it.
At 18, I worked for a genetics company. Only my boss had the knowledge of how old I was and I looked older. First time I was treated as equal.
Now, I am 20 and when I speak I am heard because I proved myself. All you have to do is this:
Prove yourself before letting those who don't need to know for you to get hired how old you are. After they know how good you are, your age becomes an assett instead of a liability.
Traffic is traffic yes, but one should not purposefully do something that would impact rush hour traffic. 4am would do that.
There fore just because of the timing, they had intent to cause damage to get publicity and attract the ruberneckers. If they did the thing at 9pm on a Monday night they would have had it down before it caused any problems for the morning commute.
What is better, having authorities be over cautious of the situation or have something go wrong causing a few people to die. They are engineering students, students make mistakes (so do professionals). Something could have gone wrong, and I do not fault the authorities for being overly careful. If I had a car appear dangling from a bridge you can bet I'd be pretty damn careful too.
That's like blaming the fire department for parking in front of a fire hydrant.. it's just their job and they did it well. These students crossed a line that should not have been crossed.
Maybe their intent was not to cause damage, but it did and they should have to accept responsibility for the damages that did occur because of it. And I think that saying they did not intend to cause damage either means the students are absolute idiots (which it doesn't seem so) or the person saying thy didn't intend it is an absolute idiot.
Thanks for the support, I dont post on/. for the karma or moderation. It's a nice place to rant. My karma is high enough it doesn't matter.. just happy someone appreciated what I wrote.
I would be willing to bet that there was at least one accident that resulted because of the backup caused, or the spectacle. Just because everytime there is something out of the ordinary in the bay area, someone always gets in an accident.
Living here, I have a great appreciation for clear roadways. I have to say that this just really pisses me right off, as it serves no real purpose to anyone around here. Yeah, it's a canadian prank.. keep it in canada.
As far as screwing up the traffic routes more than they are already they are just stupid bastards. For example, I leave for work and I am an hourly employee. I have an appointment at 5:30 PM which requires me leaving work at 5:00PM. I leave my house at 7:00AM, thinking I will be into work by 8:00AM which is usually the case; even if there is an accident.
I seriously doubt I would have made it to work by my standard 8:00AM if I had to drive across the bridge. Therefore, they would have cost me money as I lose it if I don't work my full 8 hour day. That's bullshit right there. I think we should cause these kids to pay each and every one of the drivers stuck in the traffic jam $100 to make up for the inconvenience.
Pranks are cool. Pranks that cause problems are not.
This, regardless of whether it was safe or not, caused many problems and cost a lot of money. Tar and feather the bastards.
I'm not sure exactly what you were referring to with mobile phones being hard to trace. It is very simple to find out what calls where placed at what time, or what calls received.
Which often times aids people who want to know that type of information. And nothing that gets broadcasted over airwaves is really all that secure anyway, fsck the little sim cards -- all for show.
This man has destroyed a few very decent companies. One of which I am sitting in a cube right now.
This man should be smacked away from anything having to do with business and should be kept from fucking over any more companies.
His latest escapade? Investing $13 million (I think that was the sum) in JustBalls.com. Why in the hell would anyone invest in a company that sells Balls over the internet?
David, thank you for screwing over one of the best companies I've worked for. Appreciate it.
Example : if many employers force employees to log in from home, as part of their job, and have an exchange server, the choices are : use MS at work and home or starve. And that, my friend, is exactly what Bill Gates wants, and what the government must stop.
Completely off base, because I am in that situation. The company I am currently consulting with uses Exchange servers, and also exchange comes with a nifty web portal to it. This means that with Netscape I can login and check my mail, calender and all sorts of other aspects (the calender support sucks, but I never use it anyway). This company, as far as workstations go, is 99.97% windows -- I am the only one who uses Linux as their primary workstation. You know what? I get along just fine, it was more difficult getting the VeePee's to accept Linux as a real platform than to bind with all their other stuff. SMB, Exchange.. it all works and was relatively easy.
and sorry, I seriously doubt you have a clue into what Bill Gates wants.
Thank you for you going out of your way to prove what I was saying, I appreciate it. Wonderful end to a thread, to fail a test like that? Don't beat yourself up too bad.
