However, why are we talking about switching from a tried and true, effective, massively decentralised system of exchange to a relatively new technology based centralised system that could then be, when no other paper backup exists, a wonderful target for a terrorist attack. I understand this would require a concerted effort by the terrorist, but what did you just see?
I don't believe that anything requiring an affirmative act by another person can be a right.

Guys guys guys, relax. I read this post and got pissed off, then I sat back and felt sorry for this poor soul. This kind of rigid and narrow-minded argument comes from someone who's been traumatized into an acute definition of society that defines ones own abilities as paramount. Just looking at popular cultural trends today and how oblivious people are to the absolute lack of intellectual challenge, both creative and academic, it paints a grim picture.

If you want to understand what a culture can be convinced of or absolved of, look at the information that the hitler youth were shown to explain how their race was stronger and better than all others. Allowing them carte blanche with another peoples rights. This was portrayed as a Darwinist rationale. The same reasoning is commonly applied to capitalistic states. Economic Darwinism, where people need to put out for society. The truth is there's so much surplus production, american society doesn't know what the hell to do with all their people. It's this lack of impetus that keeps our society from evolving. There's a need for serious social development. There's only annihilation in the future of a state that focuses so tightly on product based economy. There needs to be diverse skills in a society that is forward looking.
