" They have strong incentives to be wasteful." STFU. I word with civil servants, and they are far, FAR more responsible with money then people in the private sector.
"Just about anyone here could do better with less even with Apple kit." No. Just about everyone here thinks that, but have never done a wide scale implementation of a reliable service and equipment. The parent to this thread makes the mistake of thinking its only machines. Infrastructure costs a lot of money.
And they are closing their doors on vitamin fortified rice, and closing their doors on a substantial tool to feed their people. All for nothing but alarmist responses and irresponsible reporting by people who have no clue what they are talking about.
Yes, because it it's one thing China is known for, it's protecting IP~
You're just making up motivation to fit into your pet ideas.
Nope, because the intelligent discussions on the topic, you know by scientists and experts in the field, get shouted down by the ignorant unthinking masses.
What they are lookimg for doesn't work well on computers... certainly not as well as humans. While confirmation bias will be an issue, its not like they aren 't double checking.
Are you insane? Color differentiation is the recommended way to impart information quickly and intuitively.
LCARS is actual interesting. It's basically a dynamic menu(like Macs) on the side but with strong indication of whats going on. If you think about it, that make a great deal of sense, because the operators are really just putting information together, all the complex work is done by the computer it'self. SO you want to pull in the deflectors shields, and tie it to the shield within certain parameters.
Being able to present the pertinent information distinctly is key. With people access more and more information, but have a limited space to work, this style is how you would do it.

People are acting like the got a 45M dollar bond are just taking it to the apple store for one giant purchase.
False, of course its about the children. Is it the best thing for the children? well that's a different question.

You're understanding of crops and this situation doesn't border on idiocy, it plows right on in.
I'm not an expert, but I can see one from my cube. Hey Paul!

That is a gross misunderstanding of the square cube law and it's application to these large species.
Seriously dude, did you take ANY science after 8th grade? or are you from Kansas?

yeah...but why do you do a traditional desktop to do it?
why not? You just put it in a dock.
No opening it up, less fiddling, easier support, cheaper.
No.
A consumer is a person who buys stuff, a customer is some who has bought your stuff.
It's pretty simple and clear. But go ahead and look for reason to complain and whine.
Apple bought the rights to use it, MS abused a contract with Apple to claim they could use it.
