One of my systems was a 386slc (cheaper) with an ESDI (legacy) hard drive that put out a whopping 350 MB of storage. (the controller card cost more than the HD) No one has yet knocked me off the "oldest system" pinnacle. Out Matrix2000
Geez, got you all beat. The first system I ever worked on was a Cosmac Elf, a Z80 based system that you had to program with 8 switches in hex code and read the results on 2 numeric LED displays on a wire wrap motherboard. My big contribution to the high school project was to solder a bridge to the Q-line of the processor to enable sound to be played through an amplifier. We were being told by our physics teacher that a couple of companys named "Apple" and "IBM" were developing a "personal computer" that may be available in a few years. Keyboard? Hah! Mouse? Whats that? Monitor? Only on Mainframes. (most big computers used teletype paper fed terminals)(I take great joy in the fact that my own computer that I type on would beat a building full of the "Mainframes" at the time) So there! Damn Right, If more people would build custom systems for themselves they would save a hell of a lot of money by just gaining a little computer hardware knowledge.
