  1. Re:i just watched it on Voyager Eulogy · · Score: 1

Neelix left in the third-last or second-last episode. He stayed behind to act as an embassador for the Federation in the Delta quadrant at a planet where there were other Talaxians (sp?) living.

Janeway gave him the push he wanted to stay with the Talaxians by saying that now, since they were in contact with the Federation while in the Delta quadrant that an embassador would be wanted by the Federation.

Hey... the Toyota Echo that came out for 2000 gets 51 mpg on the highway (I'm not sure if that's American or Canadian gallons) and is a fair size. It's not a large car, but great room inside considering it's exterior size. I plan on buying one this fall myself.

I had also been considering the Honda Insight and the Toyota Prius (to be released this fall) but the Insight was only a 2 seater and the Prius out of my price range.

So are you saying we need to add thousands more TLDs to the system so each one is actually relevant to the sites within it?

  4. We need more generic TLDs on FSF Proposes .gnu TLD To ICANN · · Score: 1
As it's been previously stated the original TLDs have not been exclusively used for what they were intially intended, why would anyone assume that any future TLDs would be different.?

I still like the idea of a .kid or .kids for a TLD though, but that would be a hell of a battle to set the rules and maintain them. It would be like a globe-wide PTA meeting!

Realistically new TLDs should be something that businesses think appropriate to associate with their business. That's why some of the Country level TLDs are being bastardized. Definitely a .xxx or .sex, maybe a .web. Let's not forget TLDs that might appeal to those outside of North America as well! These are all based on the English language. I'm no linguist but I'm sure there are quite a few possible TLDs that the rest of the world would like to see as well.

  5. Keep it on Ask Slashdot: Another Word for "Hacker"? · · Score: 1

Not being anywhere near a hacker (in any sense of the word), but having had a interest in computers since I was knee high to a grasshopper I have always felt that the term hacker has referred to both hackers and crackers. I have always taken the term cracker to refer to a subset of hackers which the "good" hackers wanted to differentiate themselves from.

  6. Star Wars isn't a new release on Best Movie and TV Show of 1998 · · Score: 1
I hate to break it to you, but the Star Wars trilogy that opened in theatres earlier this year was not exactly three new movies. There may be a few new scenes and some special effects added but this doesn't change the heart of the films. Therefore they are not new.

There is no doubt that the Star Wars trilogy is, and always will be, awesome and unforgettable to several generations, however, you can't really call them the best films of 1998 as they aren't films of 1998.
