    The EU parlament are going to vote for software patents next week - so this is just a PR stunt to get the parlament members to think that Linux is safe and thus approve software patents in EU!

    The really good thing are that the one who buy the N version can get a better media player - for example one who has no DRM in it.

    So its a happy day for anyone who likes freedom - I suspect that it will sell well in the US too if not Microsoft makes it illegal to do so.

    They probably just add realplayer or mplayer so the ones who buy it can play media anyway - and without DRM.

    Maybe its news to you but .NET is nothing but free.

    It may be gratis if you buy the operating system from MS - buts its not in any way free.

    Actually MS was not forced to drop Java at all.

    It was more like they did not want to follow Sun license - so they stopped producing it.

    Downloading ? No its uploading they are accused of. One informant they hired was the main one responsible for uploading films, music and computer programs to a computer at a ISP who they later got the police to raid and take for evidence.

    The thing is a whole mess with basically everyone involved having been accused of misconduct or unlawful activities - ISP, police and the APB.

    Company B also has a better product - a product that in less than half a year has grabbed 6 per cent of the market.

    In September it will be over 10 per cent and continue to increase. Even if IE7 maybe will stop that market share increase for Firefox it will still be an inferior product with bad support for CSS.

    Note that even if people talk about IE7 as being out in the summer - its only a buggy beta! The real release will not be out until 3-6 month afterwards - when Firefox will have a marketshare well over 10%.

    The tide is here and it is fast. At the time IE7 will be out - and as a product that is inferior to todays Firefox - Firefox will have continued to evolve into something even better than it is today.

    Competitors are trying to catch up with Firefox - because today its the best product in the market - of course its a very serious player who may well within the next 2-3 years time be the #1 browser on the net.

    Remember back in the mid-80ies - there was a OS from Ms that was called Xenix - based on a obscure OS from Bell Labs called UNIX - Xenix was selected as the main multi-user OS for IBMs latest AT based ranged of computers at that time.

    Well it was some time ago.
