Hey, Slashdot!
Read the actual article.
Verizon is ONLY charging the fee if you use a one-time-payment method other than e-check. If you use e-check, the fee is waived.
All they are doing is passing along the credit/debit card fees.
If you are enrolled in auto-pay, the credit/debit card fee is waived!
It > that (as some have noticed) this problem is more prevalent on older handsets. I bought mine in November when they first came out. While I ran Android 1.5, the problem did not appear. When I downloaded the 2.1 "leaked" version, the problem did not appear. HOWEVER, when I re-downgraded to 1.5 and received the 2.1 OTA update, the problem popped up. I received a replacement eris the other day and (knock on wood) this problem has not appeared on the new phone.
HOWEVER Android 2.1 performs pretty poorly on the Eris.
After 4 tries, Verizon has agreed to ship me an Incredible.
Now just to wait and see whether they make good...
Imagine how this so-called flaw can be exploited.
The Power of Disinformation
Send the unencrypted drones on jolly little excursions looking at non-targets. Then use the encrypted drones to gather your proper intel.
Use the old-style to distract, confuse, confound and deceive your enemy.
Then
I must confess that I was taken in by this. Heck, I was one of the silly dweebs that had "BBS" parties, "LAN" parties and attended the occasional "SUG" meeting.
Is it campy and silly? SURE!!!
Is it uncool? SURE!! -- But so am I!!
Do I get a 100% free copy of Windows 7 Ultimate Edition? YOU BET!!
So, to all you naysayers:
NYAAAAAAAH!!!:-)
Bill
I will grant this. So -- use e-check!
