I don't know about that. It was stated that the character's didn't have to worry about meddling with the timeline because they were actually in an alternate universe -- but the reason the whole thing got started was they noticed, in the present, effects of someone traveling to the past!
Timeline was entertaining, but when you get to the end, you notice several major plot holes and become dissatisfied.
