    I don't live in podunk, so maybe I'm outside the problem scope.

    The Apple maps features BLOW GOOGLE MAPS out of the WATER.

    No more cut'n'paste from Maps and Yelp or Browser. All the actions I want are on my destinations tab.

    Routes are calculated turn-by-turn in POV - like a real TomTom or in dash navigator. With voice, while my music plays or my call is streamed to bluetooth handsfree.

    And it's certainly accurate in San Francisco - but maybe not in the USA, where you probably live.

    Google sucked.

    I remember Alias Wavefront, my child. Maya dropped MIPS/SGI, but OSX is definitely supported.

    Adobe isn't in the business of supporting any sizable market outside of design-oriented content creators. They still veer HARD to OSX. That is where the market (high end) is.

    And then the MACH kernel could be abstracted on something that looks like a Type-1 hypervisor with NUMA for VMs.

    Really, the whole industry REALLY sucks for the employees. They are generally in it for fringe-travel benefit. Flying for your profession has lost the glamour of its first 60 decades, and even pilots are now more like Greyhound operators with more braid.

    They are paid about the same, too.
