oh i'm being the jerk? lol! YOU dismissed the not responding issue by calling it out as a windows thing. when it clearly isn't. because other apps seem to do fine.
Ok done -- now I've got a youtube, slashdot, and 18 other tabs open. I don't have a scrolling issue, I don't have a freezing issue. Maybe you Flash needs updating? What's going on with your memory & cpu usage when this happens?
memory usage is fine. i don't care about memory. but there is constant 4-5% cpu usage by firefox. it shoots upto 25% (maxing out one ht core) when i scroll. flash is up to date. freezing occurs once in a while and i get the grayed out window for ~30 seconds. but i'm really done trying to troubleshoot this issue. i've done everything i possibly can. i've completely reinstalled firefox, enabled and disabled extensions one-by-one to see if one of them is the culprit. but to no avail. this thing always occurs. and it doesn't happen on firefox 3.6. i still have it installed. it is a little slow to start up, and it doesn't do some of the new html5 flashy stuff but it can at least scroll properly.
The Mozilla Foundation is not the same thing as Firefox.
actually, it is. it is nothing more than firefox right now. everything else is just plain irrelevant. and 100 million dollars is way too much for developing a web browser.
yeah, you're right. mozilla is a company that makes a shitty browser. and that should not take up 100 fucking million dollars. i bet google's chrome dept doesn't spend that much. if you don't include all those adverts.
fuck addons. what's important is that your browser be usable on decent machines. firefox isn't. open up 5-6 tabs, a youtube tab and a long/. page and you can't even scroll properly, without the screen jerking around. chrome and ie9 BOTH use more memory than firefox does, but they do not freeze up randomly while you are scrolling. if your name is really in firefox credits, you should be wallowing in shame, not posting about it on the internet. i mean you guys took the most epic browser evr and turned it into a piece of turd worse than ie!
problem is, as i discovered today, an arm cpu running at 1.4ghz with 5 cores is shit compared to any intel/amd cpu. run the same tests on your laptop/desktop. even with old processors, you will get a massively higher score than any tablet.
i don't get it. what's up with menus and app launchers working smoothly only when they are h/w accelerated? windows xp wasn't accelerated. it was pretty responsive. when you've got even a single core at >1ghz you shouldn't be allowed to make excuses about something as basic and simple as the ui of your fucking os. all this, imo shows how fucked up android really is.
i ran the browser mark test on chrome running on my core i3 laptop. 380000. on a dual core at 2.26ghz. this new tablet thing has 5 (five?!?!) cores at 1.4ghz and it gets only 98000?? is this because arm sucks or because android sucks?
I think you're wrong. I think Facebook is definitely going somewhere soon. There is google plus on the horizon, and the discontent with Facebook is growing every day. You say that Facebook is popular. I'll give you that. But myspace was also popular at one time. And before that livejournal was popular and so on.
lol!! you kidding? g+ was dead before it hit the road! i mean the stupidest thing to do when you launch a "social" network is to not let you invite your friends over! and that too without offering anything newer or better. even the ui looks stupid to me, all that whitespace making me scroll for no reason.
fb does have a lot of value for a lot of people, maybe not for you. also, maybe not 100B$ value. but people today use fb as the preferred way to keep in touch with new people they meet. blogging is for people who like to write stuff. most people don't, they just want to communicate. i think facebook is in for a long haul, or maybe something else facebook-like.
look around you. its not the us anymore that's in trouble now. its the eu. the us has mostly recovered, because they have people willing to work, not just find new ways to fine smart people.
yeah this is just ransom money eu takes from every successful non-eu company to allow them to do business there. ever hear of any european company being fined??
firefox just plain sucks, right now. the latest version (fuck me if i know which number) can't even scroll properly, at 60fps, if you have >5 tabs open. chrome uses WAY more memory, but it doesn't hog cpu for no reason, NEVER crashes and pages scroll smoothly.

flashblock:-> enable click to play in about:flags. it blocks every plugin not just flash. and it works exactly like flashblock.

Firefox will hurt its market share no matter what. so why not get a little money?
'somewhat quirky' is a rational argument and valid point to not support a standard??
yeah, then it only affects ~90% of the userbase. yeah, that should be fine.

and its not proper android. which makes it kinda dead in the water.
if this is true shouldn't i be able to group together several tegras and make a laptop that rules everything??
also, chrome gets ~330ms in sunspider and ie9 gets ~260ms?!?!?! looks like something is broken with sunspider...
my bad. no need to be rude.

While there may be merit on both sides...
like what?? i fail to see this as anything but an underhanded act of a company that does not want to compete.
also, copy and paste.
800 million active users. 400 million log in every day. fb doesn't even bother saying how many signups anymore.
it's not going anywhere anytime soon
