get a proper job, then. nobody is forcing you and your band to live on music alone.
for example, let us say i set up a business of selling high quality buggy whips. but for some reason, nobody is buying. instead of signing a stupid contract with a distributor i have the option of getting into another business: like selling nuts and screws.

a cell phone purchase is something very insignificant compared to a car purchase, or a house purchase, or a fucking contract about your job. if somebody does not give me time to read the contract which states what i'll get paid for my work, to hell with that contract. if musicians are that stupid, they deserve what's happening to them.

  7. Re:Don't sign it on RIAA Math: Sell 1 Million Albums, Still Owe $500k · · Score: 1

Perhaps, but many times these bands are just so ready to sign to a major label, they'll sign whatever heaps of fine print the label puts in front of them. Do you always read through everything you sign?

you don't? you must. i read every page letter-by-letter when i sign on something. if someone gets fucked due to not reading the fucking contract they sign, i'm glad.

actually, historically all sorts of artists (musicians, dancers, painters, actors) have live in penury. for some time, they got supported by a king or lord, but most of the time it was a life of poverty. when i think about it, i cannot find any reason for michael bay, lady gaga, etc to have the kind of money they have. its a nice thing they're doing but you don't deserve to be rolling in millions. i welcome this trend of a music career becoming 'practically impossible', if it exists.

no, it is not easily solved. you are forgetting the ONE reason for outsourcing: cost.

  13. Re:Dealing with Indians on the phone is frustratin on The View From the Ground At an Indian Call Center · · Score: 1

i am an indian, i live here and still i hesitate before calling tech support. the problem is that support people assume that i'm completely clueless. another reason is that some companies' call center people (eg, vodafone) speak only scripted lines, the conversation is never natural and gets awkward when i ask a question that is not on their database.
however, some companies do it properly and their support is really helpful. for eg, when i call up the telephone/adsl help center, they give me a choice 'press 1 for issues related to your telephone line' and 'press 2 for issues related to adsl'. if you choose adsl, you directly get to a person who actually knows something about how adsl modems work and can figure out problems. even if the guy is not able to solve my problem on the phone, he sends a person to my home within 1-2 hrs who WILL solve the problem.
so, imo the problem is that most companies choose their call centers based only on cost, disregarding quality.

True, everyone who uses drugs ends up whoring themselves out. For instance, our last three presidents were all admitted drug users. We can't let that happen to our kids!

bush- started meaningless wars and brought on the global economic recession.
obama- is adamant on shutting down nasa and all other scientific endeavors.

The other issue is that when kids are young they don't think/realize that when they post pictures of them and their friends drinking under age, smoking pot or other illegal activities it's out there and anyone can find it. All it takes is for them to just be caught/tagged in a picture with others doing it and they're up the creek.

if your kids are doing illegal activities, they deserve to get caught. how can you defend a kid smoking pot? i'll be happy if google runs their image analysis on every photo posted and automatically reports it to the police if it sees someone smoking illegal drugs, or drinking underage, along with gps info so cops can teach them a lesson.
seriously, however cool it is to do drugs, it is still very harmful to you. and we should be trying to prevent kids from falling into the vicious cycle of drugs>poverty>prostitution>drugs and so on.
