Yes, clouds move. In the upper atmosphere, air cools and sinks, causing wind currents, which blow the clouds around.
Wait, what's that you say?
Oops, my mistake.
The multisearch add-on was only intended for the pre-release versions, as part of a research project. It is very unlikely that it will be included in the final Karmic release in the same form as its current incarnation.
There, fixed that for me.
My point was, anyway, that the Ubuntu devs didn't intend to make this Multisearch a part of Firefox as we know it. Some of the same concepts, maybe, but they will assuredly be more fleshed out, more intuitive, than in the Alphas. And next time, maybe they'll tell us first?
I've been following this for some time. The multisearch add-on was only intended for the pre-release versions, as part of a research project. It will NOT be included in the final Karmic release.
That is what alpha releases are for, after all: testing. Admittedly, the devs could have bothered to mention that they were planning this, but it's better that they did it here than in the final release.
Ok, I would apply for a patent on this great *new* idea, but I can't afford the fees and such. Anyone interested in contributing? I'll cut you a share of the profits later.
A patent for: a method of sustaining life by filling a pair of internal sacs with air through the expansion and contraction of the diaphragm muscle.
(I'm actually half-serious here, if there is anyone crazy enough to help me out with it.)
Posting here to counter a 'school of thought', if you will, I've seen a lot of lately.
Forced != Gunpoint.
If something only gives you one option, you are effectively forced to use it. Walking away and writing your own are not always feasible alternatives.
In the meantime, Netscape Navigator has evolved into Mozilla Firefox, the most popular standards-compliant browser in use today (and also free). Your point was?
Microsoft commandeer a market, forcing developers to use their proprietary tools and to cater only to their platform?
Yeah, like that will ever happen...
So Microsoft isn't buying Yahoo...they're just merging their bank accounts and Yahoo is adopting Microsoft's competing technology.
Makes perfect sense to me.
I can't think of anyone on Slashdot who would disagree with me if I said IE was the worst browser in general use. Most people use it simply because it comes on their computer and they're too lazy or technically inept to install Firefox. This will show the average Joe that he does have a choice about what he uses on HIS computer.
Think about it like this: lots of people would like to see all OEMs offer a choice between Linux and Windows on all computers. Since there's nothing stopping you from installing Linux on a computer, what's the point? The point, my friends, is to show the customer that there is more to computing than just MSFT.
Everyone above me is comparing this to buying a car and getting a refund on the parts I don't want. Well, let's make it a little more accurate:
I go to my local Chrysler dealer and ask for a 2009 Challenger, but they insist on giving me one with a preinstalled GPS unit, which I don't want.
They tell me I can't get it without that unit, so my choices are a) don't buy the car or b) buy the car and remove the GPS myself. I opt for b).
A month or so later, Chrysler puts out a report saying that 98% of all Challengers are sold with GPS systems preinstalled, so *obviously* there is a high demand for them.
Now wait a minute. Aren't I included in that 98%? Even though I didn't want the GPS at all, I was forced to buy it against my will if I wanted to get the car. So now is it right to assume that because I bought it with that option, I must have wanted it?

Mankind will always find something to complain about; all these technologies that are supposed to make life better (and usually do, I'll admit) just give us more time to look.

A friend of mine does this with golf. Makes a pretty good living off it too. (Golf is significantly less dangerous though.)

And you thought MOTHERS-in-law (sp?) were bad...

The ballot screen would not appear if IE were not installed.
Doesn't that kinda kill the point of the whole project?
They want their idea back.
(I admit, that's not really fair to them. It wasn't their fault.)
As a proud user of GStreamer-based media players, I didn't expect it to work at all.

He needs one of these. So he can always tell when he's in danger.
Ubuntu already has one. Its called "Add/Remove..."
b) I wonder if they'd object if I stood outside and handed out Ubuntu CD's?

If it makes cool red lights flash under the hood like KITT, I'm all for it.
