Same here in Finland, though personally I think every apartment I have rented has had light bulbs already there when I've moved in.

I'm not sure if the landlord here is required to provide them before renting (pretty sure it's not mandatory) but the occupant does not have to leave the bulbs in.

Stupid people cause other people, like their children, damage by dying stupidly or raising children to believe seatbelts are "for pussies" and they cost other people money dying stupidly. This is different from skydiving and trash food in that not wearing seatbelt doesn't provide any extra satisfaction nor do people lose any real freedom in being forced to use them - I'm sure that many dumnasses don't agree, but they should just grow up and focus on something real, like for example giving people the freedom and right to get euthanized instead of fighting for rights to die stupidly for no good reasons.

How about we take this logic and apply it to alcohol (as it relates to deaths due to drunk driving)? Any takers? If not, why not?

Unlike prohibition, stricter gun laws, like ones we have in Finland (note, not total ban of any and all firearms), are known to actually work. As does laws against drunk driving.

And no, the fact that "gun crimes" still happen (it's pretty rare here though, even inside organized crime business) does not mean it doesn't work, unless you are suggesting that crime existing means laws don't work at all :p

A country can't really be the leader of the free world while not being free world itself, no matter how much it tries (and succeeds) to make it's people believe it is.

And how arrogant is it to think that Europeans view "American ideals" as "Western ideals" - you are but one of many western countries and your ideals greatly differ from the rest of us - including your northern neighbor.

What you do want is to promote American ideals to the rest of the world - and it's a unlucky non-coincidence that it always involves promoting policies damaging to us and distancing us from western and towards American policies, including benefiting USA at cost of our freedom and well being.

The sooner all Europeans realize that, the better for all concerned. Unfortunately democratic countries also share the problem that we don't always get the kind of leaders we want to and thought we were voting for - and there can never be a candidate that agrees with every one of your own opinions, one can only try and pick one that seems to be closest to one.

As for your last sentence: I couldn't be happier if USA simply cut any and every political connections (including corporate lobbying) with, not only western, but all other countries.

Sorry but 'Intellectual Property' is not a 'useful social construct' because it isn't property at all and conflates actual social constructs coded in law with real physical property. I can only assume you have bought in to the idea that copyright, patents, trademarks etc. are like 'real physical property' as opposed to use rights granted to the 'original producer' of the intellectual work in question. Copyright has nothing to do with patents, patents have nothing to do with trademarks, they can not all be labeled under the same rubric of 'intellectual property', none of them are 'property' in any way shape or form. And this is nothing at all like the difference between manslaughter & murder.
