NeXTStep(which OSX is based on) used Display Postscript. Using the nxhost command on a remote machine would cause the DPS to be routed to the remote (NeXTStep/Openstep)machine of your choice. Due to the nature of DPS and the implementation, this was a security risk, and remote postscript display was disabled as a default. It was still pretty sweet though.

Just a thought: what would happen if say, Dell or Gateway decided to copyright the eggshell-beige cuboid box look for PCs? Is this a possibility, or is the whole idea just a big sweaty pile of echydna's poo?

Gee, what if they did? http://www.gateway.com/prod/hm_astro_Matrix.shtml

Soon at Toys rrrrrr Us, the "E" class model rocket engine. Equivelant to 50,000,000,000 "D" engines!

No, there already is a "E" -about the same as two "D"s. And the "F" is two "E"s, etc.
What you probably want is a "EE"...(W,X,Y,Z,AA,BB..)

NEXTSTEP ran acceptably on a 40MHz 68030 with its 3rd generation display layer. I'd say efficiency is not a big issue if the system is implemented well.
    No, the processors used were:
    25MHz 68030 Original Cube
    25MHz 68040 NeXT stations, cubes
    33MHz 68040 Turbo stations, cubes
    40MHz 68040 "Nitro" unreleased.

Get your facts straight. The Communication Decency Act was proposed by Senator Exon, A Democrat . The truth is that Democrats are a greater threat to the constitution and free speach than the Republicans ever will be.
