Even more idiotic than, say, installing webcam surveillance software on laptops that are rented by children and then punishing children for "immoral acts" that they do at home?
I'd say it's a tough call.
I should like to think that at least one planet with actual sexy blue-skinned aliens will be discovered precisely for that reason because that is a really, really good idea.
What about a donation system whereby one can pay to have the people running this download some documents? Three bucks would be three hundred documents. There could be options on which documents they'd like downloaded. What about a Make a Request section?
They could even handle it like Miro handle's donations and put your name up when people see the document. "This document has been liberated by XXX."
Maybe these aren't good ideas for various reasons and I just don't know enough to know why. Just throwing them out there.
AT&T Caps my bandwidth. They charged me an extra 20 dollars a few months ago for going over the limit. I buy their "ultra mega super elite" DSL service and upload an average of 40kb a second every second of every month. They sent me an e-mail notifying me about this wonderful little change to my AT&T e-mail address which no one fucking uses. I first saw the change on the bill. Thanks AT&T.
What about if they divert power from the plasma relay decoupler and reconfigure their Heisenberg compensators to sync with Hubble's warp signature?
Hell, any Ensign would think of that.

How far away are we from discovering Rainbow Worlds? Those have much more minerals and would make the ~30 light year trip more worth it.
I laughed, I cried, I shook my fist. I hope someone, somewhere out there reads this and does _everything_ you suggest.
It's like your in my brain.

If a law like that was ever passed I would throw an actual party in celebration. There may even be girls there.
nail. head.
I guess it's a good thing that it took this many posts before it actually happened. Gotta admire the honesty from the government.
Oh snap. I think you called it. I will remember this forever.
Hand your kid a copy of The C Programming Language. If they can't handle that, they are not ready.

Does this mean open source projects will have to start worrying about the Daleks? EX - TER - MIN - ATE!
Soylent diesel is made of people!
