  1. Leaving Microsoft Behind on Microsoft May Charge for Security Tools · · Score: 1

Its wasn't until I left web development and IT in general that I finally managed to rid myself of Microsoft products. Shame it took such a radical move, but I may be back when the Linux uprising really begins here in the UK, keeping my eye on the job boards ;)

Still, news items like this make me laugh and shake my head in dismay at the same time, working in a normal administrative office now I see how people in "the real world" still think PCs just run Windows, that's all there is, a PC comes with Windows, what else is there?

    Tut.

Surely now they _must_ Open Source the code if they have no buyer for the business.

Blender in my opinion could rival 3DS Max, and they already had a very slightly cut down _free_ version, so if they let it die it will be a great loss.

Anyone interested in 3D Content Creation really must do all they can to try and get NaN to open source this program.

I agree strongly with the post I reply to, the services avenue would have been a very good idea and really the only strong way to make money when competing against 3DS and Maya.

Consider Open Source NaN!! Don't let it die. Do the community a favour and Blender may go from strength to strength !!

I've bought using UK VISA, try the tuxgames site and order from there. Failing that you can buy from amazon.co.uk as I ordered some from there also, and hopefully they'll re-stock from Loki :-)

Don't forget to buy their book also. I'm not much of a game programmer although I've touched on it in the past.. However as you state, they have contributed so much, so may as well buy their book and learn about it :-)

You need to check your definition of FREE with regards to Linux.

Compilation of drivers may be a pain for some, but those things are improving and getting easier all the time. I'm not going to get into a slagging match over Windows as, you know, its got its good points and its bad points just like Linux.

Hopefully once the installation and setup procedures for these kind of things are ironed out, we might see you back with a bright outlook :) (Outlook, remember, that things that spread virii like wildfire, DOH! I tried to hold back)
