I can't say much with regards to Linux and the BP6. I'm running a BP6 with dual Celerons and 192M of RAM and NT 4.0 w/ SP5. As much as I like Linux, it's not the OS that fits my work needs. Linux is my programming OS, but NT does everything else for me.
Anyway, Anandtech's review of the BP6 (yes, I actually read it before I bought my BP6) is the only negative review I've read about the board. They are somewhat vague concerning the instability of the BP6, and don't really provide any details (or perhaps I didn't read it correctly).
From my personal experience, I've had zero ramdumps in NT with the BP6 (except with Winamp which is due to the SMP code in the CLabs SBLive! drivers), while ramdumps were common when doing a lot of multitasking on my Asus P5A w/ K6-2 400 and 128M of RAM (under NT 4.0 w/ SP5). http://www.ocabj.net/pcs/aurora.html. It's got a few tidbits to keep it half interesting.
That's why I sold my PalmPro about six months ago. I wanted one so bad and when I bought it, I carried it religiously for about a month, then I ended up letting it sit around on my desk. It's handy and all, but most of the time, I never used it.
I can remember most of my important appointments, numbers, and email addresses. Phone numbers aren't a problem because I can store them on my cell phone. Email addresses are easy for me to remember, and if I forget an appointment or date, it probably wasn't all that important...hehe. Seriously though, maybe if I were in business or something, I'd find a better use for it. I guess the PalmPro doesn't fit my stereotypical University CS Majoring, part-time sysadmining, unorganized lifestyle.
Frankly, I just don't like carrying organizers around with me all the time.
I refuse to pay for a player with less than 64M of storage (default). Have you seen the prices on flash ram? I'll settle for 64M on board if the price is cheap, like $100, but I'd like to see 96M or 128M players the standard. I listen to 128 bit rate MP3s, and most people I know listen to 128kbps or higher. 128kbps is almost a ratio of 1M per minute, so 64M is not enough to even hold one album at 128kbps.
If MP3 players continue to be subject to the economics of flash ram, I feel that the concept of cd players that can read mp3s straight off of a cd will become more viable. Sure, the current portable players have a large benefit because of no moving parts (no damned skipping, no need for shock protection), but I'd be ecstatic if I could carry around 650-680M of MP3s on a cd and play it on a portable player.
Plus, CDRs are so cheap compared to flash ram. So right now, I'm pretty much shying away from until a well priced, "high" storage player is released.
'90 minutes of 128K data for $150'? That'll be great...
but where's the mp3? is it me or is the mp3 not there? it's probably way to early considering i was up till 3am finishing up a programming assignment for my algorithms course....

This was too funny! They need one like this for the warez and wannabe hacking community.
I really want to see the new trailer... but Wing Commander? I might end up paying for the WC ticket, watch the trailer, leave right before the actual movie starts, and go watch The Corrupter.
I own a Palm Pro and have had it for a little over a year. I like the new look of the Palm V. But I am disappointed with the direction people want to take the Palm devices. Wireless modems, 8+ Megs of RAM, color screen, etc. Why not ask for a built in GPS, 32M RAM, and sound while you're at it?
The one reason why I love the Palm so much is it's simplicity. If I wanted wireless 'Net access and high storage, I would have bought another laptop (probably the new Porteges or a Libretto). Oh, well.
Whooptie fucking doo, a cable modem!

And lose the damn d00d speak -- it's freaking annoying.
You're telling me. Adaptec UWs have been stable in price for a long time (hovering at around $160 +/- $10 for OEM). If firewire can kill scsi device prices, I think we'll see more people turning to scsi as not only a viable storage option, but also an inexpensive storage option.
