Since when has slashdot started posting front page articles on old-school hacks like this? Lapping is one of the oldest tricks in the overclocking books, and hardly worth such a mention. Posts like this should be reserved for sites like HardOCP and Ars and the whatnot, not slashdot. Just my $.002.
I've learned to take every survey and benchmark associated with Microsoft Corporation with a grain of salt. With that whole NT/Linux fiasco a while back regarding performance of servers, I remember MS helping the surveyors to "prove" that NT was a better server OS than Linux. Looks like a possibly similar situation here....
Wait a second now... you just said you "between QII and Q3A". Last I checked, there was a perfectly smooth integration between Q2 and Q3, with no gap in time whatsoever. I thought that everyone played Q2 all the way up until Q3 was released.
If Homer has anything to do with this, I'd steer WAAAAYYYYYYYYY clear. Imagine happily surfing along and all of the sudden your connection gets dumped. Give a quick ring to tech support, the line gets picked up, and the only thing that you can hear is Homer screaming at the top of his lungs, "Oh, the Humanity!"

1000 CPU's? Could you imagine the kind of framerates you could get in Q3 with that kind of processing power? God, that's lustful...
