Tell me all about it.. I kept holding on, hoping netscape would get better, in complete denial that IE was a better browser (Under the Win9x Platform).. Guess what? I use IE on my work machine runing 98 now and love it. Netscape is complete garbage.. More built in advertising, less stability, more HTML 4.0 incompatibilities -- It's a bit better under *nix, but not by much. I even hex edited my win9x copy so it wouldn't give netscape/aol/time warner/emi/world domition corp a page view every time I tried to check my godamn mail Mozilla? Yah... It's real good at segfaulting, but not much else.. And development is SLOOOWWWW! M12 only took what, a year? And still isn't stable? jesshh..
I'm finished ranting.. I'm going to try my best to friggin uninstall AOL Instant messenger.. HA!
*SIGH*.. Still NO real encoding tools...And Real Player G2 / Server has been out for over 3 months now. And even so, It took real A YEAR AND A HALF to release a G2 player for linux, while if you wanted to view any recent Real Video content you had to "LILO: Windows"... On top of this, the Real player v5 for linux was a complete joke -- it's performace compared to the windows/mac versions just plain sucked. And I won't even go into the privacy issues, as it's already been covered in other threads.
Plain and simple, real networks is EVIL EVIL EVIL! We need an alternative. Anyone?
Ya know, I'm working on a little bot written in perl as a little side project -- I would be interested in taking a look the code for your bot to see how you implimented the "breeding aspect" of things. If you would, please contact me at stephen@ (The domain listed in my profile above for my web site). Thanks!
Man, normaly when an successful comercial app comes out for linux I'm pretty excited.... but Corel Draw????
This app is unfortunetly an industry joke to graphic designers. But on the bright side, perhaps this will urge Adobe to hurry the hell up and release Illustrator or Macromedia to release Freehand.. *sigh*
We're not breeding more jerks -- it's part of human nature.
I remember back in 1988 with BBS's when it was pure geek culture the same thing was going on then. Flame wars burnned like wildfires around message boards over nothing -- no topical arguments, just pure "You suck" issues.
Nothing has changed for better or worse. The way I look at it, flames can be pretty funny if you take a step back and try not to get involved, and the less people that get involved, the less meaningless messages will fill up disscusion boards because flaming is realy just about the need for attention.. *sigh*
I remember one guy on this BBS actualy got a brick through his window as the result of flaming another guy on a board...But remaining annoymous was a little more difficult back then.
I've heard that wearing boxer shorts and loose fitting pants can help.
