  1. Re:Socom has become nearly unplayable on SOCOM Online Cheats Ruin Experience · · Score: 1

I'm right there with you. My friends and I have a weekly game that's password protected so we can still enjoy the SOCOM experience with out the little kiddies who can't grasp the concept that some people actually want to play the game straight. I paid for the game, I don't want some twit ruining my enjoyment of what I paid for. I pay something like $10/month for Everquest Online Adventures (which I spend the majority of my time playing now, since I can't join a regular SOCOM game without having some dolt cheat) and I'd easily pay that for the opportunity to play SOCOM cheat free.

If you're looking to start a game in the "general population" turn on Friendly Fire, most cheaters will avoid FF games since they risk killing off their teammates and actually losing while cheating. If you're on the same team as a cheater, do everyone a favor and vote the prick off.

It used to be that if there was an emergency the local radio and TV stations had two options, either carry the emergency information, or shutdown the transmitter during the emergency. The FCC used to enforce this rule. Apparently it's not in effect any more.

ClearChannel says they support the relaxing of ownership regulations because it will help the community. If ClearChannel really wanted to help the community (at least in North Dakota), they'd buy up WebSmart and put 600 people back to work.

The CP Rail incident is proof positive that the FCC no longer serves the people of the US, but the Corporations. Ten years ago, ClearChannel would have lost their licenses in Minot for not following the Emergency Broadcast System rules.

and certainly with blow-job-billy American jobs were being protected and no one hired H1-Bs.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves here. Clinton doubled the number of H-1B Visas allowed in the country during the dot-com rage. If you're going to complain about jobs going to H-1B Visa holders, you have to put at least part of that blame on him.

    > Did anyone ever open up Field and Stream again?... last I heard it had been closed for awhile.

Still closed as far as I know. At least Sammy's Pizza is still open.

    > Minot also has Applebees, which spread thruout North Dakota like the plague in the early 1990s.

Yeah, I always forget about Applebees and The Ground Round. It's not like they really count for anything though.

    > It's extremely franchised.

Well, that's not entirely correct. Sure Fargo is definately franchised, and Grand Forks is getting there, the West side of the state is very home grown. Hell, Minot doesn't even have a major non-fast food restaurant chain. Oh wait, Denny's and Grizzly's are there now. For the most part though, North Dakota is still relatively franchise free.

BTW, I don't think Sun has a chance of being "Slashdotted" any time soon. They sit on one of the biggest pipes in the country.

Obviously you have never tried to upload a core file to Sun before.

And since we're on the subject of Solaris 9 for Intel, I'm confused as to where this rumor that Solaris for Intel was End of Life'd came from. It certainly didn't come from Sun. They've been saying "We've put it on hold for now," not "It's dead, Jim."
