Banning this book in america is in violation of the 1st amendment. Just like they can sell books on hacking and making those cable tv descramblers. Its legal to publish the how-to's, its illegal to use the information in those books.
Ironically enough: I have an interview next week at UPS corporate. I would working on their IBM mainframe, working with clients and troubleshooting and such.
I am also a fresmen IT major in college. So maybe the job market is looking good for me, eh?
My school (small private school in upstate New York) was 100% wireless last year with 802.11b. This year they switched to 802.11a. They were boasting a minmum speed of 54 mbps and a max of 108. It rarely gets up to 54 and never goes higher. In addition there are 4 Access Points in each housing unit. I had the one closest to me go out, leaving with another one which was about 30-40 ft. away. The signal was terribly weak and my connection suffered. Also there is a constant refresh, very noticable in multiplayer games. Every minute or 2 there is a half second of connection loss. Personally I would rather have the old style RJ-45 connection, but I guess this will do. I get somewhere around a ping of 12 to pretty local game servers. The school is still working on it and I am not trying to pre-judge it. They still have fixes to make
I saw something similar to this on the discovery channel about a year or so ago. Some explorers had found symmetrical stone blocks laid out in a pattern somewhere off the shore of cuba. It was later concluded that these symmetries were the result of underwater currents that "carved" the stones. Sorry i don't have a link to verify this, cause i couldn't find one.
If I can recall correctly from the book "Hackers Heros of the Computer Revolution" it talked about one computer at MIT it was the IBM 704 or the TX-0 (tixo) someone wrote a small program that would make better use of the binary language. And they stored it in a draw and advised anyone one who was programming they should use this as it would make their life easier. It was around 4 months since I read that part of the book so I am not sure if that is totally right.
