  1. Quest for Tires from Sierra, anyone? on This is IT? · · Score: 1

Does anybody remember a Commodore 64 and Coleco game called "Quest for tires"? You had a cave-man riding a tire that looked very much like the Segway ... and the grin on the face of the caveman...

There used to be a ISP here in germany, who offered free internet access through an 0800 number and a proxy you couldn't circumvent. Every 10th page or so that you requested was an ad-page with an "click here to see the actual page or wait x seconds" on the bottom. I don't know wether they are still doing this (germany.net / nexgo.de)

Your grandmother also wouldn't have used the PC with DOS 3.3, probably not even with Win 3.x. The advent of WinME and Win9x and even Win2k hide the ugliness of the inner workings behind a reasonably comprehendable Interface. So as soon as people need not worry about the gory details of the system any more (and have their grandchildren help them with those, should the need arise), it won't matter to them. Make it easy to install and maintain and you're ready to go!

I usually ZIP everything sent because many mail gateways corrupt the filenames of attachements. Also very nice to make sure your personal love letters reach their targets untouched. /dot

I don't believe any study that states CDs have a lifespan of 100 years - not until someone actually finds a way to accelerate time for testing!

  8. Re:Videogames Are No Longer a Work of Art on The Future of Console Gaming · · Score: 1

That someone creates a game on his own, doesn't mean it's a work of art. IF it becomes art, then it's because although someone did it based on his own likings it appealed to large group of people (or at least a sufficient number of geeks =).

With the complexity of todays target systems (voodoo, gl, nw-games ...) this scenario becomes more unlikely.
