    I just need to pick out my own groceries. Furthermore, grocery shopping is not at all unpleasant, and smart stores have interesting samples etc. Furthermore, the best stuff comes from the farmer's market.

    In 5 years you'll have to keep on dreaming. They are so ridiculously far from making this work, two years in. They are not on the verge of multiple breakthroughs.

    I can't say Google is making my life better. I would say I use Google Maps, but my standalone GPS isn't that far behind it.

    Lol the taxes aren't even going to pay for your services. They are going to pay for the interest on services rendered by our parents.

    I like to know I'm getting the best I can out of the device I'm using. If I want stereo sound I'll sit in the living room with my stereo. In either case, I don't want the wireless protocol to be an additional bottleneck and source of compression if I can help it.

    Well, I prefer to use a laptop on my lap in bed. I don't like it when you can't because the power cord keeps coming out in that position.

    Oh no, people are most definitely friendly where I live. Literally people will strike up a conversation with you in an aisle of a store. There are all kinds of ideas, because people are happy here. You're thinking of something that only happens in the US.

    You're making a huge assumption that employees are mobile. They are most definitely not. Moving is an expensive personal expense.

    So you live in a place without trees, or brooks. You pay a lot for your house that is right next to another house that looks similar and the drive is more than 30 mins.

    Laptops with cheap flimsy power cords like Apple provides need it. I've never broken a Thinkpad cord.

    Because you have to turn off bluetooth on an airplane. No transmitting or receiving functions.

    You must turn off all sending and receiving for wireless devices on an airplane. Therefore you have to turn off bluetooth.

    Oh sure, I have a cheap bluetooth headset too. But I can't listen to music with it at all. At around $45 I can listen to music with wired headphones, but I haven't found a bluetooth pair I can listen to music with yet. No bass response.

    How long has Waymo been testing on public roads now? Well over a year. And they can't even do some of the turns properly yet. It was rushed out from the start. These companies are saying that people are so obsolete and that they are so hungry to make money from the fact that people are obsolete that they are going to put some ridiculous tech on the road that doesn't even work right and may never work right. Yeah, I can understand why people are pissed.

    So now that they are replacing people instead of replacing horses, imagine how much worse it will be. Maybe so much worse that the technology won't survive until it is put on a closed course to have the kinds worked out for ten years.
