It may be appropriate to present the letter instead of the paper as an example of what's in store for the future:
"My esteemed colleagues, it is my pleasure to welcome you to the Information Hiding Conference. Many of you have travelled a great distance, at great expense. Our initial panel and workshop will be scrubbed due to the following taste of DMCA's teeth..."
Certainly it's one form of Information Hiding? (Hush or it's curtains, prof.)
Idols are, of course, easier to find/create and control.
Certainly artists who are not in the revenue stream will be able to sue Nap_Bertelsmann_Time_AOL whatever to receive their royalties as well.
The subscription service provides an interesting model for the future. The battle will be getting royalties distributed to _all_ the artists, including those who record themselves.
Floppies are only still with us because Iomega
left FD compatibility out of the Zip. Imation
had planned to release LS-120 with FD
compatibility at least a year before, but didn't
make it. So, the FD is cheap, uses a common 34-pin
connector still worth including on most
motherboards, and serves as an emergency boot
device.
I recommend getting DR-DOS' diskcopy from Caldera
website and making images of all your floppies.
Burn these to CD; include diskcopy on the disc.
ps. What resources are wasted in putting 10MB on a CD?
A boycott is certainly in order. I recommend any boycott be aimed at all major studio product-- excepting foreign and indie films. This should of course include theater visits and rentals. It should also have a defined starting date-- how about Feb. 10, 2000? (the deadline for commenting on the DCMA)
Saved entertainment dollars should be then forwarded to the EFF.
It's most likely that your copy isn't on DVD-R media, which is still pretty rare in China as well as here. 90% of pirated CDs and DVDs are pressed from glass masters in legitimate Chinese replicating plants by the managers. A payoff to the local officials and everyone's happy (except Jack Valenti.)

Interesting to note her first quote,
"They're terrified."
The first job of a parasitic lobby is to sow
fear.
Schroeder does this to the tune of 370K/year. Nice for an ex-public servant.
