    is it get-data or get-content? wtf is "content"? how about get-text, what does that do? get-content from where? there's nothing intuitive about it. are there aliases in the locale for the majority of the users, the ones who don't speak english? why should i "get" things instead of "show", or "list", or "examine". why are is it a "process" and not a "job" or "task".

    none of this is "intuitive".

    Expediamaps.com has covered the whole world down to a small village resolution, with rail maps, etc., for years. The Google effort certainly needs a lot of work before it will be useful, and for the moment remains a U.S/Canada service.

    Under capitalism, fewer and fewer people get more and more pie until the system has totally collapsed.
    But since the pie-owners control the media, they keep telling you how great the system is working.

    I have a great life, but it makes me really unhappy seeing the future of OUR children destroyed by greed, and watching so much money being spent to kill innocent people that, had it been spent appropriately, all of the starving poor of the world could have been easily fed.

    My life is privileged by wealth and comfort, and I am highly self-actualized. But the system is still fucked.

    No, cheaper for everyone. Upgrading software is even more expensive than upgrading hardware.

    Anyone with a load average over 1.0 is going to see the benefits of more parallelism immediately. If you've ever used an SMP desktop, you know it's good.

    What is truly humorous about that concept is that a 2.7GHz 907 will stomp a 3.4GHz P4, and the fastest chip on the desktop these days is a 2.6 GHz Opteron.

    nExtsTEP was also x86. I ran an ISP off a nExtsTEP 486 box for 6 months in 1994. My desktop, OTOH, was a slab.
