Interesting idea that our Universe is just one giant black hole though. Would make more sense if it (our Universe) weren't expanding and the theoretical notion of black holes didn't contradict the physical reality of our Universe (ie, lots of space and not super-dense matter). How about that theory that black holes create new universes like bubles? The fact that the universe is expanding could just mean that more matter is being sucked in....... I am not a scientist, I am just interested in this field, so everything I say could very well be complete nonsense.
I don't think so, supose a company would want a specific extension/improvement to a open core, it could wait untill somebody does it for free, or they hire a designer to do the job. There are also software programmers working on GNU licensed stuff AND getting paid for it.
First, people working on this in their free time time will not match the quality or technology of a firm which does do chip design. Why not, remember that the whole world can contribute to this, not just the employes of ONE firm.
There are tons of chip patents out there waiting to get stepped on. To get around these hurdles will be a nightmare because there is no way to disprove you are violating a patent. Again this is easy since anyone can check the source and see if you are violating a patent.
My understanding is that 2.4Ghz is the resonant frequency of a water molecule. So microwave energy transfers easily to water, and then thermally conducts to other materials. This is not true, water molecules heat up at any frequency, the higher the better. But at the same time higher frequencies penetrate substances less. The microwave works at 2450Mhz, at which point you have optimal performance, it heats up enough and penetrates just deep enough (about 12cm)
I think you don't even have to write any software to do this, you could just set the gateway as the default router with a very narrow netmask (255.255.255.255) Grtz, Jeroen
These are LOW-power devices, nothing compared with a normal microwave which operates in the same frequency band (2450Mhz to be exact). (This is why they made this band available for general use anyway)
I have been involved with the alpha testing of software for webcams, and there we call 320*240 quarter-vga. These kind of things is measured by the total amount of pixels. You don't have to be a genius to know that if you cut both sides of a screen in half you get four parts.

Well, it runs Linux, doesn't it? Last time I checked it was still under the GPL. Couldn't we just hack it so that it gets its streams from yp.icecast.org or something like that????
Of course I know that, I am Dutch (as in: I live in The Netherlands)!!!! The dutch judge I mend was the one I might one day have to face if the mpaa ever decides that they are going to sue everyone/everywhere.....
Actually I was refering to the judge in California, but you can easily add the Norwegian police (I didn't hear of any trials yet so I don't know about the judges....)
I have just created another mirror of the code here It is in The Netherlands so it should be save for a while........ (I hope) And I am going to add another mirror everytime I read something negative about it.... Just a thing in this war, but everything helps...
Hmm than you really did something wrong, I have installed X on several small systems, the smallest was a 386 sx with 5 meg ram and 40 meg harddrive (including a 8 meg swap partition) using slackware...... It wasn't fast but it worked....

No, but it will do almost the same namely use the 'base' as a repeater to connect the other nodes.

Or a beowolf cluster based on these things.....

I think he is right, the idea behind socialism and communism is that everything belongs to the people and should be shared.... just like the GPL.....
The writer has a good point that taking something for your own and try to make money of it is capitalism!
I don't think you would gain any benefit compiling the linux kernel with this since the kernel is in C not C++. So there is nothing to translate.

On homepage they talk about a LCD screen of 320*240, this is only quarter-VGA, so were is the other half????????????

Should I laugh because he is so stuppid....
Or should I cry because American judges are so stuppid that they are believing it....
I hope the Dutch judges have any brains.......
I am afraid you are right....
But I will keep trying.....
And I will add another one for every negative thing the mpaa does.....

I think that almost everything you described can be prevented with quotas.....
Nobody actually usses them, but they should...
