    The truth has a force and direction of its own. It is not Wiki Leaks task to be concerned about the path that information takes nor the consequences of exposures.

    Oh really? They didn't work in Iraq and decades of sanctions haven't worked in Cuba.

    They actually DID work in Iraq, though they ultimately were pointless because we went to war. And sanctions did work in South Africa.

    Yes, got a little mixed up, the CIA is an independent agency. But the State Department's mission includes working with the CIA, including providing cover at American embassies, and the State Department has its own intelligence agency, the Bureau of Intelligence and Research which also gathers information. So I should have said the BIR instead of CIA. My point is still the same. Or go ahead, say that the Secretary of State's job does not include ordering the gathering of intelligence. No? Didn't think so.

    Well the DoJ can't overturn decisions. The most they could do would be to have the Solicitor General's office file an amicus curiae brief.

    Since it was a circuit court of appeals decision, does this set precedent in other districts? Hopefully it won't be overturned by our good DoJ friends up in the Supreme Court during an appeal.

    It can be used as persuasive authority in other courts; the fact that the 7th circuit made this holding strengthens similar arguments elsewhere. And not sure what you mean by DoJ.

    I didn't "give up," just in subsequent attempts to learn programming (including college level classes), I found it extremely difficult to think in terms of subprocedures, classes, etc., and I think a lot of that was because of the linear nature of the BASIC programming I learned on the PC Junior.

    That said, I do NOT like the way several world governments are railroading Julian and creating trumped up charges. The US govt. is leading this hunt,

    Honestly that is unproven. Motive does not equal guilt, and it's disturbing how so many otherwise reasonable people state as fact that the US is behind the charges in Sweden.

    They're frequently right. BASIC was fun to learn as a kid but probably derailed me from ever learning proper programming.

    Does anyone know of any reputable services that actually sell virtual desktops? I'd really like some sort of centralized place I can log on and have things set up like I like them, be able to store files, etc. but haven't been able to find a place that just offers that, just whole servers.

    I just find it fascinating how posters on this story are blasting the patent system and the entirety of the United States itself based on a single, solitary email from some unknown guy. I don't know how any reasonable person would assume with such 100% certainty that this single patent proves anything about any fact other than "once upon a time some guy managed to obtain a bad patent."
