  2. I see only one benefit.... on Gigabit Transfer Rates Over Power Lines? · · Score: 1

Transmitting data over power lines introduces another danger factor in the maitenance equation. Most electricians I know prefer to have a switch between themselves and the power company.

The only advantage I see is that natural selection should start weeding out the idiot cable guys.

Out our way, they call it an "Easement." Bottom line is that the power company has the right to use and sub-lease the land and collect profit form the use. In exchange, the farmer gives up his right to use the land, but retains the right to pay property tax.

  4. This could explain a lot of things on Quark Matter Blamed for Paired 1993 Seismic Events · · Score: 1

JFK, RFK, and Marilyn killed by strange quarks. Teddy's car knocked into water bay a quark. Missing Watergate tapes. Dangling chad.

Since they are remastering the JFK does Dallas film, maybe the we can do like they do on CSI: zoom in by a billion and see the quarks.

Dunno - A friend in college had the best conspiracy theory yet - Teddy found out John and Robert were sleeping with Marilyn. When she turned him down, he had all 3 killed.

  5. Certification on First LPI Certification Exam · · Score: 1
Ten years ago or so, someone was pushing for certification standards for programmers in Computer Language magazine. An engineer wrote in to protest. In his experience in the engineering field, a standards board merely gave the lawyers control over the industry.

These make for interesting ramifications for an open operating system.
